I went to school on this very bus in the late eighties, for some reason seem to remember a lot of the registrations of the hedingham buses.

That one is still about, too, albeit sold on now. Odd what sticks in the mind. The first coach I owned was one I used to go to school on, many years before.

It always puzzles me that on most bus vlogs the centre badge on the steering wheel always seems to be missing.

They’re not held in by much, so people tend to take them as souvenirs. Not being there means they can’t be taken….

I agree; it’s a particularly pleasing one, that. It’s moved in now, but still about.

It puzzed me why they called it a Leppard when its a bus!

Leyland naming convention. All named after animals. The Leopard chassis was available in different lengths and different power/speed ratings for different applications - both bus and coach.

Ah, nice, that’s a fairly niche market; have you ever tackled any of them with the split switch?
@rongeremy69704 ай бұрын
@@richardwalker_ definitely,, I have, a 5 speed one, but it was taken off before I got it to restore . the switch was kept on the bus , as the guy was waiting for me to send a reconditioned one to him so he just reconnected the switch to the gear shifter and off he went happy as could be..

I’ve had the later electric sort (right hand change) apart, and the earlier (column mounted) ones apart. The right hand change are extremely greasy inside, but a work of art.

@@richardwalker_ very nice!! I had a chance to get a couple of the electric types but didn't get around to them , as I just specialise in the pneumatic selectors . They can be very messy and very seized. Most definitely a work of art, especially making parts for them. Just before they got rid of all of the Leyland buses here we had a few of the electric/pneumo shifts getting around, but much prefer the direct are system. Sad they are gone, , such a fantastic bus/s
