I’m so glad you filmed this video Marty. What a lovely canal. Just as we are going into winter your summer is looking pretty good with all the lovely green trees and the next generation of birds and animals along the canal. I hope Emily is feeling better and getting the treatment she needs ❤️. All the best to you and Fran XX
@narrowboatmoonshine2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it Helen, the canal has sprung into life in recent weeks, lots of canal babies around. Emily came home yesterday, so we a super happy about that, we were very worried for a time. Weather, well, its typically British. Was a lovely half day with rain and howling winds in the afternoon, very grey today too. We do love the sun, but getting a reliable source of it here seems to be a challenge. What is winter like down under?
@helenweybury98632 жыл бұрын
@@narrowboatmoonshine Our winters in Melbourne are cold and wet but not as cold as yours Marty and we only have snow up in the highlands of Victoria. Melbourne is known as a place that experiences all four seasons in one day so we keep a close eye on the weather reports. I’m so pleased Emily is back home ❤️

@@helenweybury9863 alway imagine it to be warm and sunny there. Got a cousin down there, in Perth I think. I think he made a good decision back then to leave the UK. So far we haven’t seen much sign of summer, just the odd day really.

Hi Martin, just listening to your comments on the basin at Monk Meadow. Keep it up mate because they're some of the cheapest mooring on the G&S. We moor there and as non-liveaboards its great to have it looked over 24/7. We'd far rather have that, with a locked gate than put our boat on the canalside with no security. I guess its horses for courses. By the way, our boat is up for its BCC next year and I'll be giving you a call as you did such a great job with our heating last year.
@miscreant672 жыл бұрын
BSC of course!🤣
@narrowboatmoonshine2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I gave up BSS. Was a pain in the ass for little reward. Monks Meadow certainly has its positives, but as liveaboards it too overlooked. But with that as a home mooring CRT will generally leave you alone, which is a great advantage.

Hi Matthew, it’s such a great community where we are. We love the flexibility of being able to get up and go wether it’s in the van or boat. Overheads are certainly more reasonable to live like we do, this as enabled us to cut our workload down to A few days a week, although Martin is very busy at the moment and is working a lot more.

Hi Marty didn’t realise you move canal boats around? the Boat in the background on 26:25 min in, I’ve just Bought? Need to get to Oxford via Birmingham? What’s the best map of the canals system and we’re would I get it from? I’ve Heard people say there a water point at the next place or a pump out? Fuel stop? I Haven’t a clue? I see your going to Spain next year? We have a place in Villamartin 40 mins down from Alicante we go down in a vivaro come camper van?
@narrowboatmoonshine2 жыл бұрын
Hu Van Demon, I only move boats for the marina and brokerage at the moment, on their insurance. I work PT for them. I'm considering a few things in that direction, but I have plenty work already so not sure I need more. Try this dude www.rivercanalrescue.co.uk/waternav-app/ Yeah Spain for six weeks, got to get the van ready for that. If we had the cash a bolt hole in Spain would be high on our list.

I agree Richard, I hate it. We are seeing green land taken and villages swallowed. They have just got planning permission here for hundreds of new homes. Two things for me, where are all these people coming from, and these houses are just cheap crap timber framed units. Ecologically backward and will not last any length of time. Building companies are just profiteering as they seem to be able to do what they want.
