Dudleys are by far my favorite tag team. everytime they showed up it was like "holy shit, what are they going to do this time!?"
@GangstaSparkleFairy4 жыл бұрын
They weren't my favorite of all time, but I agree completely. Everytime they showed up, you knew to stay glued to the screen. Thats a huge compliment actually, because so much of wrestling feels like filler or redundant anymore, there are only afew acts that you can say make it feel exciting everytime they step onto the screen.

Dudleys in ECW were money especially when Bubba was on the mic just tearing into the crowd to pieces to the point fans would throw stuff at them and cuss them out . Warriors the minute Black Sabbath's Iron Man hit the PA system and they would just rush the ring and dismantle whatever was in their way .If there was ever a dream match for me it would be these 2 teams in their primes against eachother .Would be hard to pick a winner but that would be a match for the ages imo .

The Dudley Boyz aren't even in the same galaxy as The Road Warriors. The Road Warriors were absolutely one of the biggest draws of their time, and held each of the major titles of their day. The Dudley Boyz go through a table as their sole thing. No cheers for the Dudley Boyz, but people love them a table. No tables=no Dudleyz. Take away the table, and no one would care about the Dudleyz.
@distantandvague7 жыл бұрын
Bubba Ray was very good on the microphone, though. And at least they were willing to sell to anyone. And they definitely overachieved from a comedy curtain jerker to one of the most decorated tag teams in late 20th/early 21st century wrestling history.

Take away the Road Warrios look and they have nothing. Both are great teams, there will be a generation or two that will look at the Road Warriors the same way my generation looks at Bob Backlund or Bruno or Harley Race. Different time, different place, all legends.
@rockmusicfan92787 жыл бұрын
+Chris Arctor I have to slightly disagree there. Even now Harley's promos are above and beyond a lot of the stars of any era. Sure the style changes but if you are over then you are over. The dudleys have as many titles as they have is because TNA panicked and always put the belts on them like they did with sting.
@waxoftriple97 жыл бұрын
+RockMusicFan92 TNA had zero to do with 90% of the championships the Dudleyz won. And the reason I mentioned those older stars is like when someone does the "My generation of music was better than today's music!" argument. It's just a matter of perception/perspective. Most younger fans are TOLD the Road Warriors were the greatest tag-team, just like we're told by older fans that Bruno was the best or Race or Flair were the best. But younger fans, and I don't mean kids today I just mean younger generations will look at the wrestlers they grew up and are more familiar with and say naw, Shawn Michaels is the best or The Dudleyz are the best or Daniel Bryan is the best.
@rockmusicfan92787 жыл бұрын
+Chris Arctor I thought they held the belts more in TNA because they treated them like they where god damn supermen when in reality it was arguably the world part of their run. I never said the Road Warriors had been the best tag team. Yet for me I would go back to an older team when tag wrestling actually meant something like with a team like Arn and Tully. Yet in modern wrestling I don't think you can beat the revival.

I respectfully disagree about the Dudleyz the TLC feud kinda put them on par with the Austin, Rock and HHH stuff. People who watched back then remember Jericho, HHH, and Rock jumping into their storyline at times because of how got it was.
@TheInspectorDilfordDa3rd4 жыл бұрын
Well technically they were slightly under in regards Austin and Rock since that's considered one of the greatest rivalries of all time and they were considered Megastars. Triple H however was never a big enough draw during that time to reach their status. Had the Dudleys managed to have won the WWE championship, they would probably would be on par with Triple H if slightly above as they're considered The Big 3 of the WWE Tag Teams along with E&C and The Hardy Boyz. They set the new standard for tag team wrestling in the company and reignited the heavy interest in the division. It kinda sucks that only Edge and Jeff were able to heavily capitalize in their solo runs and Jeff's only one of two people to complete two WWE Grand Slam formats. The greatest thing about TLC is that when people mention great tag team wrestling, no conversation can exclude those 6 guys in way.

I always found them to be entertaining. I became a wrestling fan sometime in 2003 and at that time the tag team divisions were still pretty entertaining for me. So I enjoyed them quite a bit for the time they had left in the WWE. Unfortunately when they left for TNA i didn’t get to watch them again until they returned to the WWE again. When they first went to TNA I didn’t know what TNA was. Later on when I discovered TNA I didn’t have cable so I couldn’t tune in to follow them. But I did catch bits and pieces of Bully’s time as the world champion and being a singles competitor and I thought he did a solid job with it. It was impressive to see a guy have that success, yes I get it was TNA, after spending so many years and having such an established identity as being a tag team guy. It doesn’t seem like it’s super frequent that you see someone spend a ton of years being solely a tag team wrestler, notably always with the same partner, branch out to a singles role and see large success with it. I don’t think that’s because guys don’t have the talent or ability to do it but I think it’s hard to get past such an established identity with your fanbase who have been groomed for so long to see you in a certain way to now be happy to see such a change. I think that’s even more applicable when you’re coming from such a revered team like the Dudley’s that had success for so long. I was pretty stoked to see them come back to WWE when they did. I didn’t watch the television regularly but at the time I tuned in for most of the PPVs on the network. I remember at the time being pretty disappointed that they were used predominately just to put people over. I get why that was the case, as you have established name legends who can survive losing matches and elevate the status of rising young teams on your roster which is a smart investment into your future. But it still would’ve been nice to see one run happen even if it wasn’t long largely for nostalgia sake. It’s kinda even more disappointing years later when you see that they put the world title on Goldberg multiple times over young guys even though Goldberg doesn’t need to be involved in a title match to attract someone to watch. Feels lame that they’d do that for nostalgia for their most important belt but not for the tag belts. One of those things that you understand but still don’t like it I guess. But I’ll give the company some props - New Day did eventually elevate up and become a money maker for the company. So I guess it worked in the end even if a nostalgia seeker like myself wish it could’ve been a bit different just for a short time.
