Speaking of Seymour (D4 guy) I find it werid that he is basicly the one with the most toxic masculinity among the careareers when he is also gay. Not saying that they are mutualy exclusive or that is bad to make a characters like this, but it makes me wonder how do you picture sexuality in Panem? Since ON AVRAGE for a man to be public about the fact that he's gay he usualy needs to shave off some of that layers of toxic masculinity, at least in the present. As much as Panem is messed up it seems from the books at least that, it's an "equaly opportunity misery" sort of scenario, where things like: gender, race, sexuality exe... do no lt matter as they do today if at all. So is this the way you choose to potrey it in your story, or am I way off?

Even if gender stereotypes from modern times don't apply in Panem, I believe that there would still be power struggles among peers and ingrained behaviours like kids bullying other kids for crying because they see it as a sign of weakness. Seymour in this context starts off as a typical bully who sees a weak boy and makes fun of him. This is because he internalised the behaviours he saw in other careers who preceded him so he thinks he has to be intimidating and domineering in order to assert his position as a leader of the career pack. Later in the story he experiences tragedy and loss and he begins to express his emotions outwardly instead of suppressing them. It's a part of his character development. But in his case, he sees crying as a sign of weakness, especially in the Games where everyone is out to get you. It has nothing to do with his sexuality and his attitude is not supposed to be representative of all gay men in Panem. As for the rest of the boys not displaying the same characteristics, it's simply because Vetiver is the mediator of the pack and he doesn't like conflict and Tarquin died early so there wasn't enough time to explore his personality in depth, but in his backstory I explained that he dealt with substance abuse and came from a delinquent background so he also has some issues that he wanted to escape from. My idea was to portray the careers in a more nuanced way and give them distinct personalities and individual struggles instead of just showing them as bloodthirsty killers as they are usually portrayed. I am truly sorry if I gave the impression that I was trying to perpetuate stereotypes because it was not my intention to do so.

@@cyraelin4950 A very thoughtful insite in your creative process, I appreciate it a lot. Also don't worry about the stereotype, I don't think Seymour falls under that category, I actualy think he does subvert the trope somewhat and it's very nice that he is allowed to exist outside of his sexuality as a person, while at the same time not being compleatly alianted with that side of himself and the reality of it. It's a balance difficult to obtain most of the times, and you pulled that off very well, so don't worry 👍 . I mainly aksed this specific question, so I could get a better grasp of what is your vision was on this aspect of Panemian society the books didn't realy touch on much. I recived great answer and I thank you for that, I'm sure is gona help me enjoy your next movie more whenever it comes out 😁.
