With this circling guitar riff, keeping it simple on the guitar is great because then we have room to explore with the rhythms I love the intro fill and half time groove you’ve already established so like when you’re going to the more syncopated, progressive so to speak beat, hitting the ands of three and four kind of makes sense in that beat. Idk? Just throwing ideas out there I like to feel a part of it LOL.

Maybe a breakdown section with just drums and bass, for the 16th note hihat beat? With the bass playing a Funked-up version of the guitar riff ( single note version of what guitar is playing, but maybe a little funk, or jazzy- if the beat becomes jazzy, i.e. a paradiddle ride pattern, w/o sounding to ‘RUSH’-y). (Large inhale 😝)

Thanks Keith! I'm working on a full arrangement that should have some BEEF. For now though, I'm using the 1:40ish track I posted today as the example of how important it is for the drums and bas to be 'one' organically.

This could be where the song expands into a soloistic jam. Hey jam within a chance, if you will.

Thank you, D! I've been using the Vic Firth Keith Moon stick. I wish the taper were a little longer, but the feel is great, with the 15 13/16" length.

No, TBH-I appreciate your input/comment. It's a theme that I have from time to time over the years mentioned in my videos and often think about. I really miss human time in recorded music. I don't just miss it for its use of tempo control to create moodscapes and visceral emotional flavors, but almost more importantly, music that is flat out quantized, sequenced, completely computerized, GRID time, etc., is truly two-dimensional versus the three dimensional that human time is, and I can only listen to so much of it before I kind of burn out on it. . It's not that I'm against it per se (as genres & styles exist now that have developed really because of it), it's just that nowdays so many musicians, producers and engineers take it for granted that it's all to be on the grid. It doesn't occur to them to even consider the power that the tool of tempo control possesses. **Intentional discretional modulation of tempo is just as important (if not MORESO) than dynamics & timbre are to the power that music possesses in conveying emotion, mood state and ultimately a kind of life-enhancing magic to all living organisms.

@@bonzoleum I assumed that you were struggling in your previous video, then you uploaded this one....to play one time signature whilst singing an opposing time signature is a great skill, particularly when composing as you go, I am humbled!!......AND you threw in a brilliant Gene Wilder impression!!.....Regarding 'playing to the grid' I agree with you 1000%. I did most of my pro playing through the late 80s early 90s, EVERYTHING put down in the studio was to a click, the results were so staid and tame compared to the live performances of the same songs......imagine 'Be My Friend' by Free played to the grid for example........No don't, I just did and it was awful.
