I honestly think the finest sounding crash cymbal I've ever heard was the one Bonham plays in "Stairway to Heaven"
I bought this cymbal after watching your video. This thing sounds amazing. Especially for $200. What ride cymbals do you like?

Typically I prefer a B20 alloy ride cymbal. The 22" Paiste Fo 602 22" THIN FLATRIDE is beautiful..

The S series line is actual a B12 alloy like the Paiste 2002. Just a bit more copper. The thin crashes are very beautiful, glassy and melodic. The 20 inch is just a BEAUTY!

Love it! How does the S Series compare for rides & hats as far as B12 vs B8/B15?
@bonzoleum5 жыл бұрын
Well, of course the B12 are closer to B8 in makeup. I don't have any firsthand experience with the rides, as I feel they (Zildjian) don't offer an ideal weight as I'm concerned (for my taste that is). The 24" they offer is like 3900 grams (I'm sure a lot of folks will dig it), but it'd be nice to have a 3300 or less gram one. Same for the 22" S ride models. I called them and gave them my opinion on this. As well as offering 15" S Series hats- and of course 15" S Mastersound as well. For comparison, the B8 alloy Paiste 24" GB reissue Multis are all pretty much in the 2900-3000 gram range.
@iopsyc155 жыл бұрын
@@bonzoleum Thank you for your thoughtful reply! I guess I was hoping that this series was Zildjian's "take" to recreate a/the classic Paiste sound. I'm an early 80s Zildjian A owner (14" new beat hats, 20" Med Ride, 16" med crash, 18" Swish Knocker), some late 80s Sabian HH crashes, and mid 2000 Sabian HH effects cymbals. Currently, I'm looking for a new/different sound (and not necessarily "brand loyal"). Thank you for your videos as they are fantastic!
@geoffchadsey18435 жыл бұрын
Thanks Terry, because of your videos on the Zildjian S Thin Crash, I went ahead and ordered the 18” Thin Crash and it sounds great. Amazon had a sale for $100 shipped so I couldn’t pass that up. I’ve got my eye on that 20” as well. Just curious what your thoughts are on Dream Cymbals?

Crazy, you know how many times I stopped playing as a kid because I thought the house phone was ringing. Imo the 77 2002 Medium 1945 gram, is the best sounding 20 inch I've ever heard, or played.
@bonzoleum5 жыл бұрын
1945 is a great weight for a B8 20". It'd be nice to have each a modern 1880 and a 1945 gram 20" Giant Beat.
@DrGray_Drummer5 жыл бұрын
@@bonzoleum I agree totally! I've seen some pictures of Bonham from the 79/80 tour, and he was using 4 crashes. I'd bet he was using 2 medium 18's, and 20's. I've also seen pics of him using 602's, and even Giant Beats well after they discontinued them. Man, I gotta hand it to you. You know you "shiet". You mentioned Paiste should use the catchphrase "Nobody does B8 like Paiste" I'd definitely buy a tee shirt with that on it!
