Boo, our courageous injured pet parakeet

This is a story of our very special pet budgie (parakeet), Boo. She was injured when she was a year old, and permanently lost the use of her legs - but that did not stop her! Boo has adapted amazingly well. We love her very much :)

I have a littleone named Daisy, she is quite old and also lost the use of her legs and cant fly she too has a little bed..nest and a stretcher day bed between two poles.. She scuttles around her cage floor and forages, using her beak and wings.. We clean her up daily.. she has a bath once a week.. and we massage her feet.. your bird is so lovely.. Windows are such a danger to any bird.. I am glad she is getting better now blessings x

One of my budgies has a leg issue too, he fell from the perch one day and slammed into the bottom of the cage and from then on his grip has been weak. It's not a complete loss of the use of his legs, but he's severely handicapped and needs special perch placements and help in and out of the cage. They're such fighters are budgies, they never let anything stop them, my bird is happy and bouncy, even though he needs a little help to keep up with his friends.

Just an advice to all of you.... get your budgie and tame him....and than....get another one.... and tame that too..... budgies need other budgies.... thet are flockbirds.... I have seven of them....all tame.... nothing more fun with budgies than have a few budgies on your shoulder and see them playing and flirting with each other!

We were in a pet store one time, another customer was getting acquainted with a budgie she was going to buy, the bird flew around the store, then straight head first into the front window of the store (it was daytime) then landed on the floor, writhed around in pain and shock, then stopped moving altogether; Broke it's neck I guess- The young man who worked there simply picked the dead bird up, looked it over, laughed, then very nonchalantly tossed it into the waste basket and the lady left the store completely birdless...

I didn't even realised when a drop of tear rolled down from my eyes... Last week my blue budgie boo boo, who is used to fly around the house and always land on my shoulder hit against the closed door and fell down...I picked him up but he was not able to walk or stand!! my heart was sinking and I got worried... 2 hrs later, he looked absolutely fine and behaved normal. I kept a close watch for him for 2 days... thank god he's fine and playful as usual :) I don't know there's something unusual bond he's having with me... he's less interested playing with his cage mates, he just jumps and hang upside down on the cage bar when ever he sees me and wants to comes out and be with me, he knows to shake hand and gives kisses, he's such an adorable, all my birds are tamed, shakes hand and kiss. Thanks god to send them in my life and make my life beautiful!!

This video will always be close to my heart because after I saw this video, I changed my parakeet's name from henry to boo and yesterday he died and today I look at his dead body and so many memories come pouring in since he suddenly one day stopped flying but I never tamed him so I still don't know how he let me touch him. He hatched 2 minutes before I was born and was always happy. I took him almost everywhere I went. R.I.P. my budgerigar boo.
