dude, he is the creator.....boogaloo, are actually funk style but it can be use as hip hop as you can see popping, a lot of music video clip use popping in hip hop music. u cant see a hit very good from boogaloo sam because of the clothes but still, he hits hard even with that clothes !!

This style is called boogaloo. and I believe you pop like that, because boogaloo is not like any other dance style with specific movements that need to be taught, but rather it is of the 'feel' of ones own groove. To funk music. try listening to parliament, zapp and roger and james brown.

It's origins are not in hip-hop though, and has only been taken into the hip-hop culture, but Boogaloo did influence hip-hop. Boogaloo was created in 1975 by Boogaloo Sam to funk music of the time. The dance is meant to be fluid and you will notice that each hit on the snare a small pop. Getting the style right can take a good amount of practice.

This is a different style all together called Boogaloo, and this is the originator of that style. Not all the styles. There are many.
