People credit musicians from the last 1940's with creating rock and roll, This documentary makes a great case for Boogie Woogie being one of the primary roots of rock and roll.

If it wasn't for boogie, there would have been no rock n roll.

Freddie Slack's "White & Tight" style is cool too. Sort of an easy precision to it. And I love the melding of classical & Boogie on Boogie Woogie Etude.

Waller and Copeland were right, except that music based upon a repetitive rhythm in the bass registers is music for the body, and it is good. It's primal and it is not inferior. It isn't music for musicians it's for an audience, to experience. See House music.

What happened to Part 2? It's not showing up on KZbin?

Trevor Morris , I simply don’t know what’s happened to part 2. This series has been up a long time with no problems. I have a feeling you tube did something to it without any notification. I may try and re-encode it into one whole show. I’m qualified now to do longer uploads. Bear with me...sorry.

10:50 Tennessee Ernie Ford was a true talent with an operatic voice but he was as out of place singing shotgun boogie as was the wonderful crooner, Pat Boone singing tootie fruity.

Forget about black versus white. What this alleged "history" did not explain to its viewers is that boogie woogie piano of the 1920s is based on the continuous eight-to-the-bar music as introduced by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in their 1918 recorded performance of "Bluin` The Blues". Play it and prove it for yourself - it is on CD today. Their 1917 "Livery Stable Blues" began the style. Forget all those millions of silly "jazz" books saying it came from Africa

ODJB was copying the earlier jazz artists.

You should be ashamed of yourself and your filthy lies. The ODJB were parroting what they heard from Freddie Keppard and Joe "King" Oliver. They aren't pioneers of eight to the bar, jazz, blues, ragtime, work songs, or anything else Black people birthed. At all. Just bleached, sanitized, processed, stripped down renditions of Keppard, Oliver and the other Black men, women and children they heard playing jazz while intimating with the very, very BLACK Storyville area of New Orleans. Shame on your name, your filthy lies, your genetics, your in and out breaths, etc...

Notice how once white people started getting involved they stop talking about music and start talking about money... All while the sound gets cheapened ? Kinda like what happened with Rock and Roll and The Blues ... Pat Boone and Stevie Ray vaughan... I'm reminded of Paul Mooney's take on it... "if you're black and you get good at something, white people want to come along and take it away"-- Likening Dave Chapelle to these same circumstances. Come to my channel and learn more.
