Hi Dan, been following your great videos, love your show, I noticed that your cassette drive shaft with pins is not rotating concentrically, this should be the source of the abnormal rattle, your way of dealing with it is quick and effective but I don't think it's the best way, it should be the drive motor or the bracket bearing of the shaft is damaged, replace it so it can serve you for a long time. Have a good job!

I thought that too, that the shaft wasn't spinning concentrically. I need to take a closer look at that one when I don't have so much to print.

Yes, I thought that too and held a screwdriver against it as an indicator but it seemed to be ok. But I tend to agree with you that it is bent. Its still running fine today though.

my major concern with fixes like this is always, that this would in the long run damage something which is way more expensive than the original problem. because you are fixing the symptoms, not the cause.

Totally agree. I like to fix it right one time. Sometimes my paperclip fixes last a long time too. Now that I got a free parts machine I'll fix it correctly.
