I think it’s evident that Blake tried to take control of the production of the film without having any concern for the actual story. It’s obvious the Justin cares more about its themes of DV and trauma so to see him almost be pushed aside by the cast has made me side more with him. I also think there’s a lot of actors and producers who assume they know the story best simply because the fund/act in it and that’s simply not true. When it comes to collaborative projects in film and tv the main priority should be the story and its themes. It’s one reason why I understand directors and writers who become overprotective/controlling of their scripts and sets. It’s because they’re scared of people like Blake and Ryan who think they know best and will try and get in the way of the actual story being told. I’ve never read the book or watched the movie and do not plan to but even so it’s frustrating to see a situation where a good director/writer gets pushed out of their own project. (I understand Colleen Hoover’s on Blake’s side but let’s be honest, she’s happy this movie is being made and doesn’t care about its quality. I’m not surprised she sided with the more famous, rich, and powerful side of the argument)

100000000%. Why did Ryan Reynolds rewrite a scene for a movie he has nothing to do with?? that is a MASSIVE overstep, not only on your partner, but the rest of the cast. something about blake lively and ryan reynolds give forced power couple at the expense of quality art. the timing of the deadpool and IEWU releases were so close together… it can’t be a coincidence. - P.S.; i don’t know if BL is that great of an actress… at least not oscar worthy. she simply does not have the range. she plays the same archetypal character in every movie/t.v. show she’s in.

A Simple Favor 2 is coming out soon though, and by reports, the GG cast just didn't mesh as friends but they all worked well together, but the headline says they hate each other for clickbait, I'm not going to pretend to know what happened in any of these situations, but I've seen "reports" of all these saying that Justin's cut of the film made his character seem more like a hero, and they didn't want his abuse to be romanticized, others said that Blake and Ryan pushed for their cut to be the final, so it's probably just all clickbait as usual and neither stories are the full truth

It’s disappointing to me that Hoover used to be a social worker. Her entire outlook on domestic violence just reeks of “outside looking in.” As if she finds these situations to be exciting. She doesn’t convey the pain and loss of identity that so many domestic violence victims experience. Blake lively wants to focus on her character being “so much more than a DV victim” but doesn’t understand that being abused can destroy all other parts of yourself and make them feel meaningless. It doesn’t reflect the true struggle that dv victims go through, one that doesn’t get resolved magically.

Looking at some of the comments, a lot of people have a major misunderstanding of what a film producer's role entails. Maybe check out an industry site like the New York Film academy to learn about it? Blake Lively has a producer credit, and as no one knows what's in her contract, that typically includes, developing the script, selecting the crew, finding locations, setting the budget, day-to-day management during filming and during post-production, and works on the marketing. I've seen comments that seemed to be questioning why Blake is doing the things that are supposed to be part of her role as producer. There's not enough detail here to make a judgement on Ryan Reynold's script amendment, but in the article shown it says the screenwriter is "proud of how the scene turned out". Script doctors are a common practice for movies; it's just their contribution is normally never made public and they don't get a writer's credit.

Well those things are done in pre production not on set! She is a co-producer low on the totem pole. She really has no say on set! Thats the job of the director period! There shouldn’t be any rewrites onset or interjections. That’s not the time nor the place to have that out. Do you think somebody would tell Martin Scorsese? I think you should do this or that in his films hell no hell no! I know cause my undergrad is film with a master in Entertainment Business. I think Justin let too many people have say in the beginning so they decided that they wanted to take over and he needs to explicitly put in his contracts moving forward. He has final edit of the film.

@@queenshay I have no interest in Blake Lively's career, but a quick internet search only lists her as a producer; not that it makes much difference because a co-producer is still involved in the creative process from pre-production to post-production. It really isn't only down to the director what happens on set; I have friends who are writers, directors, producers and actors; and I've been lucky enough to visit a few sets. Yes, rewrites do happen on set, it isn't always ideal, but sometimes that's when everyone involved realises that something isn't working. You may be right that Justin might have shown a lack of experience in his approach to this project. Sometimes we all need to learn a difficult lesson at work. Hopefully, the speculation will stop and everyone involved can just move on.

But even if you check the Wikipedia page, it doesn’t even list her as a producer. That’s great that you’ve got to go on site for a day or two maybe even a week. Even in film school, you learned that something is wrong if you are redoing dialogue on set as you’re filming. Maybe in $250 million dollar budget OK maybe. Or maybe after daily’s have been shot and it’s not working and the executive producers have said some thing OK perhaps. You don’t do that because time is money money is time the cameras are slated for a certain amount of days craft services are set for a certain amount of days lighting, etc, for a certain amount of days. i'm still waiting to see how this entire thing shakes out, but the optics are optics-ing and it just looks so messy. just mess. that aside, the way promotion has gone for this movie does so little to highlight that it has aspects of dv in it and people who are going into it without any knowledge of the book or plot are going into it thinking it's some type of love triangle romantic drama. which isn't helped by how lively has to be specifically asked about it and gives the most flat answers. i know only so much can be captured in a soundbite, but she talks more about picking a song for a "charged" moment and how her husband rewrote a scene (while trying to skirt around the fact that happened during the writer's strike but i digress) and the whole junket crashers bit with ryan --- all make the movie seem more cutesy than serious. so i can only imagine someone thinking they're going into this believing it'll be more along the lines of "la la land" or "definitely, maybe", only to get figuratively slapped in the face with some "enough" and "sleeping with the enemy" acts mid-movie.

It sounds like he was very open to collab with Blake especially because she is a girl and can contribute to the story from that POV only to be backstabbed by her and her husband. Like really? Why is Ryan Reynolds even involved? It seems like they used the whole “let me help you” since they’ve been in the industry longer to push out all boundaries and take over and now want to turn it around saying he was the difficult one. I don’t believe it. Blake even changed the aesthetics of the wardrobe of the main character which I still remember fans being so mad about when pictures came out. She wanted it to be quirky but the that is only such a small piece of it. I am not surprised Colleen sided with Blake since she probably thinks Blake is cool and Colleen strikes me as immature. She was all down for Justin when he first got it but now a “cooler more known celeb” wants it too so why not. They took a good chance to tell a story and threw it down the drain for a quick buck 🥲 I feel Justin genuinely was in it for the story not for marketing.

Another video you should check out for this drama is where Ryan Reynolds interviews the actor who plays Atlas. It’s all for laughs and fake jealousy to promote this movie and it’s like, really? THIS is how you guys are marketing this? Beyond tone deaf and quite odd

Blake & Ryan never truly sat right with me after they had a plantation wedding and she made a brand all about the Antebellum south and she romanticized it all, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are difficult people to work with.

Yeah I've seen a lot of confusion about what the movie represents. I was watching another KZbin couple talking about theatre earnings and they continually kept referring to this movie as a RomCom. I don't think it's because they saw it, it's because they had absolutely no idea what the real subject of the movie was. And if I'm being honest, the trailers I've seen DO NOT show the true nature of the book at all. it's made it very wishy, washy. Now to be clear, I haven't seen the movie and doubt I will, and we all know movies don't always do a great job of translating to the screen, and let's be honest, would people really want to see the REAL DV that happens in the book. I don't think it would sell, so dilute it and then you get 50 million women that love or hate the book will go see it ... one to see if it's the same, or two to see if it's different. Sorry, I'm going off, but I find the whole thing really bizarre LOL

I saw people commenting on another video that the movie has to be marketed as a romcom because saying it's about DV spoils the twist 💀
@coffee_cookies_books4 ай бұрын
@@hatchet1013 Yeah I got that impression. To me that's ridiculous ... say it's women's lit fic, or a romantic drama, or anything, but trying to say it's a romantic comedy is bad.:(

2024 is really the year as Katt Williams said. I was so disappointed when as a women and mother of young children she dicides to wear Balenciaga for the SuperBall and now she as a women she promote a DV movie like its was the RomCom of the year and even lunched a haircare while the Men is the one who talk about the problematic of the movie! So disgusting as the plantation wedding 😒

I was a big fan of Jane the Virgin (for the first four seasons) and really liked Justin Baldonni (?) until I found out he was not only starring in a Colleen Hoover production but also producing it, I just can't with anything that woman is involved with. And to top it off, adding insult to injury, casting Blake Lively who, granted, looks pretty standing in pretty dresses but can't act to save her life. This production was cursed from inception and I hope it tanks.

I think their feud is just a publicity stunt.CoHo is so confusing to me, like why would she back someone who is promoting the story as some silly love story ? As for the book , I don't think it glamorizes DV. it just depicts what some women STUCK in such relationships go through. Some women can get away as they should ,but some just CAN'T. I mean , the country I'm from is so patriarchal, women aren't allowed to get educated much or get any jobs so they depend on their abuser for financial reasons and besides this there is the whole emotional aspect women experience in such relationships like trauma bonding kind of thing or the whole I can fix him kind of thing( which in no way is true) but emotions complicate stuff .We can't judge these victims for their actions . However it's CoHo's LATER actions associated with the story that didn't sit well with me and made me think she is glamorizing DV like why would she make a colouring book for a book based on DV ? What are we supposed to colour ...bruises and wealts on human skin ? Like why?

This is the year of people realising that maybe the celebrities and influencers they admire are not so great after all. And I've been a certified celebrity and celebrity culture hater since 2020 so its nice to see even a little no. of people start to be more sceptical of all famous people and they facade they project to be marketable. Also, while this book of Colleen Hoover's is probably the only decent one, it's so funny to me that the bad guy of this book is basically the male lead of all the other books. I know It ends with us is a very personal story for her because of her parents, but girl I can't take you seriously when all your other books basically glorify and romanticise the same thing you're writing against lol. The more I think about it, the more f'd up it is. And now seeing everyone side with Blake(who seemingly has more power) and cutoff Justin is just making me side eye the cast.

it seemed like a good PR strategy to have Justin talk about DV serious aspects while Blake brings in the non-suspecting rom-com crowd to fill seats. Given all of Justin's other work in the past decade with his "Man Enough" podcast on positive masculinity, his book, his limited series on calling out/fixing toxic masculinity, people that know him would be disappointed if he had made just a fluffy rom-com. I liked it when the movie took a dark turn cause it went against the hollywood cookie-cutter expectation and sends strong messages. But Blake avoiding mentioning Justin in interviews is weird.

Isn't this what Hollywood does to women all the time tho? "Difficult to work with". Also why would you want her in a serious topic movie? She was literally in Gossip Girl and her hubby's catalog is very unserious. I'm confusion. Decisions were made. Regrets were had by Justin.

I can't say for sure if it is glorified DV but I will say that based on marketing alone they really are doing a disservice. Because they make this seem like a happy romcom, like this was a good time. This is a life shattering experience, something that kills a lot of women, something that harms a lot women. The rest of the cast making it seem about dressing up and feeling good. It's gross. This is an example that white feminism is not equal to general feminism.

When I watched Larry’s video(she went to the premiere and was given the opportunity to star in the promo for it) she said the movie was a bit different from the book. I figured this since it’s what they do with most movie/tv adaptations of books. From what I gathered , she said it’s washed down so maybe it is more romcom for the movie. I haven’t seen it yet and won’t until it hits the streaming apps for free. 🤫🤭

People need to keep this in perspective. I agree with others that people are just bringing drama where it's not there. JB said BL was incredible in the movie and she made it better with her insights. And Justin said MULTIPLE times that he wanted to separate himself from the movie because he wanted to make sure it was in the fenale perspective. And it's really irresponsible to say these allegations when you're getting all your info from Tik Tok. Hello? It's Tik Tok! Take it with a grain of salt and stop making something out of nothing.

Everything they do now, they do it as a couple and not as individuals, in my opinion, I think it´s a a little too much. If the rumors are true, Justin didn't deserve that

This is so interesting and confusing. Thank you for making this. Now I feel like I’m invested in the backstory of what the crew/actor’s idea of the moral of the story of the movie actually is. Cause I would absolutely side eye anyone who leans toward romance for It Ends With Us and not domestic abuse. I can definitely see how romance is more of a money maker. So that would be so sad if Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were trying to romanticize this story for monetary gain. I don’t want to believe that. But I have no personal experience with them or any other person on the cast. So I’ll keep my ears and eyes out for more info. But I always have hope that women will not put down other women. Men? No hope. None whatsoever. But, women? We hold onto our hope 🤞🤞
