Around 6-7 years ago, I was looking for an anime to watch with my little brother after Death note... I was like, well since One piece is this huge thing and so popular we at least have to check out what it's about. Watched a couple of episodes myself first, I thought it's kinda fun and adventurous!! Me and my brother liked it from the start, because of Luffy and all the bizarre world/geography thing haha We ended up liking it too much in the end, way beyond expectation! We were watching it when I returned back in my hometown for the holidays 2-3 times per year!! We bonded so much over it. We are both caught up to it now (I'm 32, he is 17 😆) and we are still talking about it, what a journey...!! If you and you son end up continuing it together until deeped in the story, I hope it's an equally bonding time for you, too!! ❤ But regardless, it's super awesome you both gave it a shot!! 💕😃

You wont regret The Covenant of Steel Series. The Pariah really took hold of me about 300 pages in. Now I am almost done with The Martyr and if this series is lining up how i think it is, this will be an all time favorite of mine. Definitely worth sticking through the slow start. I hope this jumps into your 2023 TBR. Happy reading!!

The Pariah is pretty good. It's not groundbreaking or genre changing and sometimes the pacing isn't the greatest, but other than that it's fairly enjoyable. With your taste in grimdark, I think you'll like it :)

Yes! The Covenant of Steel trilogy is amazing and has a really satisfying ending. It was my first experience with Anthony Ryan. I have also been put off reading Blood Song.

I never hear anyone talk about Anthony Ryan’s Draconis Memoria trilogy. I’m on book 2 right now. It’s a flintlock fantasy, with a resource (dragon blood), and three pov’s that I enjoy equally.

I believe one piece hot the states when I was in highschool (2006-2010) or at least it gained traction here. I remember trying it and not liking it much, that's why I get annoyed when you tubers turn to the one piece channel. It's great they love it, but not everyone does.
