The Book Grocer is great, although I've always shopped in store with them rather than online. You know they've got shops right, a few in Melbourne, one in Canberra, one i Newcastle. There used to be some in Sydney, well at least one, but it closed unfortunately. It's dangerous whenever I head into one of their shops.

I must be the only one not to know about them, and whilst I would love to visit their stores, it's not always easy for me as I don't drive anymore and not every shop is wheelchair accessible. I'm glad though that you've had great experiences with them.

Wow Kathi those are amazing bargains. I remember having a bookstore around the corner which had the same business model like your online store. But it closed over 20 years ago. Don't know where all those returned books go, Destroyed? I really liked the Martian Chronicles, many say they are dated but I don't feel the same way. Yes the mindset ist from the 60s but the philosophical questions are still important. I buy used books from time to time unfortunately they become more expensive over the last year like everything else.I never sell used books because you don't get any money. I place my used books in certain local public bookstands for free.

I would hope any left over books are sent to libraries. I'm keen to read more Bradbury but not sure when I'll get to it. I see 2nd hand books going for good prices on eBay. I might try to sell mine there or to some 2nd hand bookshops or I'll donate them.

It took me a long time to find a copy of Otherland! But eventually I found an ok second hand copy of it, and I'm looking forward to finally reading that series! I'm in NZ and found Book Grocer a bit tricky in the past because shipping wasn't always open to NZ, but they emailed an update at the end of January 2024 to say they were opening up the full website to NZ customers with a flat rate shipping fee and fortnightly shipping schedule. So I'll have to go back and check it out, especially after seeing your video!

I gave up looking for it years ago as it was so expensive. I'm determined to re read some Rsd Williams this year. I'm glad shipping to NZ is now more consistent. I hope you find some marvellous books.

Sounds wonderful and congratulations on finding a place that works for you. When I look on eBay and see the shipping cost if I purchase something from Canada or Australia I almost fall over in a dead faint. I am in the US and often get books from Blackwell’s cause I prefer a majority of UK covers as well as the paper quality over the US covers.

Thank you and I usually faint at the cost of shipping from US or UK. It puts so many books out of my price range. IDK Blackwell's. I'm surprised the UK editions have better paper quality.

So glad that you found a better place to buy books. I think you'll really like Sophie Hannah. Maybe your neighborhood might have a neighborhood spring sale to get rid of things you might want to get rid of. I got Jane Harper's The Dry from my local library (U.S. Maryland-Baltimore). I can't wait to read it after I finish Georgette Heyer's Detection Unlimited (definitely recommend).

Great bargain always. One can save the $10 postage cost by visiting one of their shops including two Melbourne city locations. As I am a city flaneur I never pay postage!

Today I was in a thrift store in my town and found three Louise Penny Books for less than a single one. That was the first time i found a book bargain in a lokal shop in my town, I am totally happy. One Book new 20,50 Euros one uses book in very good condition 4,90 Euros.
