Awesome you watched Lonesome Dove. Ed is going to be very happy you have picked them up! They are some of his favourites of all time. Love that translation of Beowulf! Awesome prose version. Pierce Brown seems to have been inspired a lot by Homer. I actually recognised some direct quotes from The Iliad that are embedded within some Darrow speeches... Will

I'm watching everything you do these days, and you've certainly provided encouragement for me to read more King... to the point I spent an hour and a half creating an Amazon Wishlist with all his work I don't already own in it and reorganizing it into published order. I figure I'll handle this Steam style where I've got such a reading backlog already I can afford to wait until King's books go on sale, rather than spending $650 to get all of them lmao.

I love Lewis' Space Trilogy. I personally struggled a bit with the first part of OOTSP, but after that, I was enthralled. Perelandra is definitely my favorite of the three. I really like That Hideous Strength as well. I think the book is almost prophetic. The new MHI book, Bloodlines, directly follows Guardian (which, timewise, parallels Siege).

Children of Hurin is IMO Tolkien's best work after LOTR and Hobbit. It is written in the style of a Greek tragedy, and was the first book to ever make me cry, really fantastic, and strongly recommend! BTW the first chapter or two are written in a history book style, but after that the story really opens up, so don't DNF during those chapters you won't regret it!

Punpun, Hellsing, 20th century boys and Vinland Saga. You’re definitely reading some of the best manga out there. And wow that 20th century boys set is an amazing gift. As far as the Deluxe edition for Berserk, it’s definitely worth it for the price vs paperbacks/digital (I have the 8 released so far).
@hiddenpandas69543 жыл бұрын
The Problem with the Perfect Edition of 20th century boys is that the ending was (for some reason) changed. They added extra pages to it and it alters the original ending and doesn't make any sense in the context of the story and just opens up plotholes so I recommend that you read the last chapter of the series online.

Those are some very beautiful books. On the Something Wicked This Way Comes, I actually finished reading it today, and started solely because of your review and because of the art you used for it, lol. Very cool book, and the edition you got there is stunning. Also, for your comment on the price of the Berserk's deluxe editions, if you go on Dark Horse's site, they are actually the same price as Hellsing's deluxe editions. The only problem is that there are like 10 of them already and those aren't even all of them yet
