Lovely video, and a wonderful way to promote the businesses. By the way, the title Bold Books & Bones sounds like the name of a pirate ship😄.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the focus on promoting local businesses. 😄 As for the title, 'Bold Books & Bones' would definitely make an epic pirate ship name! Maybe it could be a ship that sails the high seas in search of rare books and hidden literary treasures! 📚☠ Thanks for the fun idea, and hope to see you in the next episode! FYI, I have two more video's on the same topic that I filmed in the South of France: Book Hunting in the South of France (Part 1) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpyXpI2OnJaKhqc and Book Hunting in the South of France (Part 2) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioKUaIyVmdiVhpY

I can't believe this was all produced by one man :) This was literally a short movie! Plus the interview AND the information about book hunts. I enjoyed watching this thoroughly. Glad you were able to make your trip in time. I love how you promote these businesses that provide relevant assets to the world of books. Thank you for taking us on this journey and looking forward to more.

Thanks for the video, as a former curbside/ book store vendor, it really was an uplift. Those days in the 80 and 90s were a wonderful time I would not trade for anything

Hello @peaceevol, thank you for sharing your thoughts! You had a wonderful time back then 🤩👍 I wish sometimes that I could have my own bookshop. Maybe one day? Did you know that I also made two more episodes about English bookstores in the south of France 🇫🇷 If you would be interested, here are the links: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpyXpI2OnJaKhqcsi=-I8sneGjWYH-WVNJ and kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioKUaIyVmdiVhpYsi=1N8ZAvAgJHMn9Zso I wish you a wonderful day 🌟Lieven 📚📘📖🌟

Love the bookstore revival! Browsing isn’t possible online, you have to be able to turn your head in a place where you’re surrounded by books!! And friendly, bright, knowledgeable staff are everything! Love the shout out to Aubrey Plaza doppelgänger, RACHEL

Hi Nancy Jean, I fully agree with you. Browsing through books in a nice bookstore is the best! 🤘👍⭐️ Thank you for sharing your thoughts here ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Next time you are in New York City, check out Strand Bookstore. The chap you interviewed at Westsider mentioned Strand in passing. I visited the store in the mid 80s, and was blown away by the vast inventory. It's a place I could have spent days and days browsing, but I only had minutes at that time.

I had booked to go to New York for the first time in October but I just found out that our flight has been cancelled due to Covid. Book hunting was one of my main plans. Thank you for this wonderful film, for now I will have to just experience book hunting in New York through you xxxx

My grandma used to collect rare books, sadly when she passed away I was not able to gather a lot of them and now they are sitting in my aunt's basement.

Hi Mason A, Thank you for sharing this story… you know, these books that belonged to your grandma… they are not just books… they are human voices from the past… if you have the chance, go and revive them… :-) Warm regards, Lieven (Bold Books and Bones)

Great Video , but the Loud Music was a little off putting. When you think of books you think QUIET like a Library not loud like a Disco. Other than the Music your video was very interesting. Thanks

Hi Bill G, thank you for your feedback. Yes I’m working on how to integrate the music and sound. I don’t master this yet. Work in progress 😊 Your feedback is very welcome.

Auction is king, trade is an arse... That inscribed prophet is not 'worth' the asking price, it IS the asking price. You could gain a first of De re metallica for that sum, at auction (if you're a little lucky)... 😜✌️

@Dorian Phoenix A house such as Christie's (and it will be a house such as that) is going to catalogue a Shakespeare folio incorrectly, and then not take returns? Nonsense on both counts. 😂😂😂
@gabrielplattes62532 жыл бұрын
@Dorian Phoenix All? A firm not so. If a purchaser's knowledge is sound, then middlemen (dealers) can be cut out for the high end items. A De re met. in a contemporary binding purchased at auction will cost you, say ~e20-30k. At a dealer's, that same copy would be priced at, at least e60-90k. I'll admit though, I was a little too rough on dealers in that opening statement - there are fine erudite folk about. Mind, arrogant self-righteous folk abound...
@gabrielplattes62532 жыл бұрын
@Dorian Phoenix What the?!... Don't bid if you cannot afford it, mate. You go ahead and pay at three or four times auction price, on monthly payments, at a dealer's. Sure, there is a benefit to the book world from dealers, that is no dispute here... For high end, though, I acquire at auction. For rubes, let the dealers do the research for them.
@gabrielplattes62532 жыл бұрын
@Dorian Phoenix Mate, you're missing the point. I agree with all that, except the part on value. You'll lose on high end copies that you purchase from dealers. Let dealers try and make coin. Why not, indeed. For high-mid to high end, I put most (~99%) of my coin in at auction. For low end, and nice reading copies, I visit dealers at times, or purchase on *bay. Your coin will go far further at auction. This is simply a fact. Pumpkin, watch the arrogance. Try not to talk down. For mine, you come across like an arrogant youngster who thinks he knows a bit more than he does.
