Thanks for this re-enactment of the creation of the Heidelberg Catechism. I am trying to learn about the Reform faith and I got to see a cartoon about the creation of the Belgic Confession. All I got left are the Canons of Dort. :)

Overall the Catechism appears to be good but, Q74: Are infants also to be baptized? Yes: for since they, as well as the adult, are included in the covenant and church of God; Not Sure about that one....
The covenant of circumcision was not given as a sign of salvation. Thus it is not applicable to baptism which is a sign that a person has made a decision to except Jesus Christ as Lord ans Savior. There is also no scriptural basis for babysitting babies. It is clear this doctrine was a hold over from the Roman Catholic Church.
klohitman it was given as a sign of being in the covenant. If you’re a dispensationalist then quite obviously you will believe in a discontinuity between the two. If you believe that baptism is salvific, then you are catholic and still baptize babies.

1 Peter 3:21 literally says Baptism is salvific. Romans 6 says ALL who are baptized into Christ are baptized into His death and are united with Him in his death and resurrection. 1 Corinthians 10:2 says the whole nation of Israel was baptized in the Red Sea (irregardless of confessing faith) Colossians 2:11 says you were circumcised by Christ in baptism, and identifies us in His death and resurrection. Galatians 3:27 says For ALL OF YOU who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. And I'm not a Roman Catholic. John Calvin: "The first object for which it is appointed by the Lord, is to be a sign and evidence of our purification -- a kind of sealed instrument by which He assures us that all our sins are so deleted, covered, and effaced, that they will never come into His sight, never to be mentioned, never imputed. Hence those who have thought that baptism is nothing else than the badge and mark by which we profess our religion before men, in the same way a soldier attests their profession by wearing the insignia of their commander, having not attended to what was the principle thing in baptism: That we are to receive it in connection with the promise: "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" Mk 16:16 "By these words, He dos not only exhorts us to imitation of Christ as of He had said that we are admonished by baptism....but He traces the matter much higher: That Christ by baptism has made us partakers of His death, ingrafting us into it. As the twig derives substance and nourishment from the root to which it is attached, so those who recieve baptism with true faith truly feel the efficacy of his resurrection in the quickening of the Spirit." "Paul proves us to be the sons of God, from the fact that we put on Christ in baptism."

Luke 1:15 "[John] will be FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT while yet in his mother's womb." John Calvin: "But how, they ask, are infants regenerated, when not possessing a knowledge of either good or evil? We answer that the work of God, tho beyond the reach of our intellect, is not therefore null. ... But to silence this class of objectors, God gave in the case of John the Baptist, whom he sanctified from his mother's womb, a proof of what He might do in others."
