I'm a lefty too! Merry meet. Your book is so nice, it inspired me so much. I make my own books and use them 'backwards' so the spine is on the other side. It's so much more comfortable. I envy you having a writing style that goes in a straight line, it's where I fail the most lol. Props to being a teacher, hope your class size isn't too large.

The only reason my writing goes in a straight line is because I draw lines. Without them it would look like crap 😁

But there are loads of tricks you can use. So I can draw from example (not everything, not the complex drawings) Use a lightbox (don't know the official word for it) I use it for the complex letters and the big celtic designs.

How did you actually make the book, the binding and all?
@wrencalder3185 жыл бұрын
I followed the directions of Jamiebookofshadows (I think that's the name of the channel) The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The only thing I did differently is that I used plywood for the back as opposed to cardboard, so the back of my book is straight and it lies flat.

A really gorgeous Book of Shadows. I wish I was that talented so I could create my own like this. I made one book b4 it turned out perfect. So I attempted to make second one and it was a disaster. I had fun making my own Book of Shadows. What type of paper is in this book?
@wrencalder3184 жыл бұрын
100 gram paper from an art shop. I don't know the name, sorry

This is a BEAUTIFUL Book of Shadows, I haven't decided on if I will make a post bound book for myself yet or not. There are several flip through videos featuring a post bound and I LOVE the idea. A couple questions :) When working on a page for your book, do you take it out for the sake of it being easier? It seems like it would be a hassle. My second question is how do you write in such straight lines?
@wrencalder3185 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for liking my book :-D As for your questions. My book is always unbound and lies open on its table. I only put it together for the videos. I take the pages out because working like that is so much easier. I draw lines with pencil, write everything with pencil first and then write everything with a fountain pen. Then I erase the lines. I guess you can make a piece of paper with lines that you can stick behind the paper you write on, but my lay-out differs all the time, so I can't be bothered doing that. I hope this helps.
@KidaRae9275 жыл бұрын
@@wrencalder318 ^_^ yes it does. Still not sure if I'll make my own post bound or not. It seems a little intimidating.

On drawing straight lines, measuring and ruling lines takes a long time and was a pain so I got a piece of mounting board (dense cardboard) and cut a series of 1mm wide lines in it, now all I have to do is put the board on a page and draw along the grooves, it gives me uniform boarders, the same number of lines per page and is fast. Yes it took a long time to cut but you only have to do it once and its lasted me over 30 years and is still good.
