I am in awe at how simple you make this look, using 2-3 pieces on a page and it’s gorgeous. I overthink things! Thank you for showing me it can be simple and beautiful.

Hi Linda, it took me a while to figure out that "white space" (negative space) is ok, and it can help your collage stand out. 2 or 3 pieces really can be enough. I'm glad you picked up on that. :-)

This is an excellent process video! The idea of placing a magnet underneath ephemera to secure additional items was worth the price of admission alone!! I’m so glad I found your KZbin channel...😍

I love watching your process. Thank you so much for letting us be a part of it. I make glue books also and it's so hard to find videos of people who do what we do. You are inspirational to me. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Margarete, thank you so much for sharing your process! I am new to collage journalling and your video was so helpful to me. Quick question...how do you decide when to use glue and when to use tape? What tape brand do you use? Many thanks for sharing this!!
@MargareteMiller

Thanks for your kind words, Theresa. I do use both glue stick and double sided tape. I use the tape on heavier weight pieces and also, it depends what I'm attaching to what kind of paper. For example, The digital printed paper is a bit shiny and slick. If I think that glue stick isn't going to adhere to a shiny surface I'd rather use double sided tape. Differently, the tea-dyed paper that are blank will take glue stick very well. If I have a small paper that I want to attach, and it is light-weight, then I'll use a glue stick for that. I hope that makes sense. Ask more questions if you have them. I'm happy to answer. Ah, and the brand of glue stick I like is UHU. I buy it on Amazon. The double sided tape is something generic I buy at a shop called Daiso, which is basically a Japanese dollar store. There are a few in the US depending where you are. I sometimes buy Skor tape through Amazon too.

Again another lovely beautiful journal!!! What kind of paper are you using for printing? It looks so nice & shiny!

Thank you! For my paper, I get everything printed at FedEx/Kinkos because I don't have a color printer at home. They use a heavier weight paper, I think 28# or 30#. It ends up looking glossy when it prints and I'm not sure if it's the paper or what. I just take it as they give it to me :-)

I really enjoyed your video and got excited when I saw you use the post mark stamp! I've been looking for one without success. Can you share where you got yours from.
@MargareteMiller

Hi Sheila, Thanks for watching! I had the postmark stamp made for me. I uploaded the design to a stamp maker and had them create it. I do check on Ebay from time to time, for postmark stamps. You will find them. Just check back regularly or save a search and get notifications.

Oh how I love this....BUT just before the 8 minute mark, a LOUD kind of strange music came on drowning out your voice! Has that happened to anyone else? It's very solemn sort of music. I've never had anything like that happen before......I can watch with the sound off but of course, I would love to hear what you are saying! Darn!
@MargareteMiller
@MargareteMiller 7 жыл бұрын
I took out the audio during the collaging because I thought the visual is all you need. I filled in the audio with different music. That's why you don't hear my voice. So yes, it is intentional :-)
@slr77511

I have to turn the volume down on that music too. It's just not my favorite but I did know that it was intentional. There's another artist that uses it too.
