Thank you Tim. I have followed you, Tim, also Tim Nickes, and of course Tim Wildsmith. You all have contributed so much to my desire and hunger for the word of God. Of course I have spent a whole lot more money on new Bibles than I ever thought I would because of the beautiful way that they have been presented. I have purchased Tim’s book way way back since he first advertised it in his channel and I can’t wait to read it. I love the Word of God and I’m also fascinated by the whole process of translation as well. Again, thank you for this review. It’s very good and helpful. Many blessings to you as you continue to serve the Lord. 😊

Mine’s on order. One thing I appreciate about his book is the chart of the translation spectrum; specifically that he includes the RV/ASV. Many charts don’t include those versions.

I think the Revised Standard is very underrated. Also I’m surprised the MEV made the chart and the BSB didn’t.

Yes, I have preordered Tim’s book from Amazon. I all ready use multiple translations. And I’m going to use the book to help explain the different translations to people.

Oh snap - this sounds like a book right down my alley for sure...(especially as I delve more into translations as my curiosity has led me [hey there, Berean Standard Bible]); will definitely check it out!

I am super excited for this book. I grew up with just the KJV but over the years gravitated to others and have many on my shelf. I am a NASB guy right now, but I am curious if, after reading Tim's book, if it is the right translation for me.
@livinright1Ай бұрын
One thing that I really take away from your review is this book, is having a team of translations. I personally have the NKJV/CSB as my top Bibles. However, if I want to just sit down and read the Bible for relaxation I have another pairing and that is the NIV/NLT. Thanks so much for giving us your take on Tim's new book, nice review 👍
@ReformedBaptist.1689Ай бұрын
Tim, you're right when you showed the translation spectrum and said people are going to be like "I thought the NASB/LSB was the most literal translation". Because that's exactly what I thought when I saw that chart. LOL

@ryanbrown-iw2ohАй бұрын
Tim what is your “Team” of translations? Are you still CSB?
@AFrischPerspectiveАй бұрын
I still say NKJV and CSB are a great pair, but the NASB would make a good third member if I had to choose.

Which NAS is behind the KJV/NKJV? I think that will depend on which one was used. I tend to still use the 77 for study over the 95, and have not grown to like, let alone love, the 20. I also use the ESV, KJV, NLT, NKJV and AmpC. in study.

I have one point to pick at concerning Tim's statement on Gender-Inclusive Language. While I agree with his general statement when restricting the discussion to the translations he discusses, I also think it requires more nuance than what was stated because there are some popular academic-based translations that would contradict his point. For example, what the NRSVUE has done with GIL is completely different than what the CSB and NASB2020 have done. The Lockman team has insisted upon differentiating their terminology ("Gender Accuracy") for just that reason. One methodology communicates the gender ambiguity that derives from the text; the other methodology derives from the targeted reader and can at times be... misleading (to be polite). In this circumstance it has very much to do with the ongoing cultural discourse. Nevertheless, perhaps this is an exception which proves the rule. As long as people know which translations should be taken with caution and what their red flags are, then the majority of the most popular translations can be categorized as safe.

That is great for brother Tim. Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, wanted no one to die, so He gave His life so that anyone who believes in Him can have everlasting life. Romans 10:9 NLT [9] If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

The KJV is more accurate because of the old singular, familiar, and plural pronouns.🙂👍🙏📖

On the other hand, there are "false friends" to trip us up, where, due to language changes, seemingly familiar words and phrases mean something different to what we expect.
