All modern versions contain the Critical Text approach, directly and/or as footnotes, and the Critical Text is based primarily on the words common to two manuscripts dated from around 380 AD: the Codex Vaticanus, which appeared in the Vatican Library's first catalog in 1475, and the Codex Sinaiticus, discovered at St. Catherine's Monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai in 1844 by Tischendorf. Yet these are very unreliable. Vaticanus:“Codex B [Vaticanus] comes to us without a history: without recommendation of any kind, except that of its antiquity. It bears traces of careless transcription in every page. The mistakes which the original transcriber made are of perpetual recurrence.” - Dean Burgon “It should be noted, however, that there is no prominent Biblical manuscript in which there occur such gross cases of misspelling, faulty grammar, and omission, as in B [Vaticanus].” - The New Westminster Dictionary of the Bible Sinaiticus:“On nearly every page of the manuscript there are corrections and revisions, done by 10 different people. … I … counted 14,800 alterations and corrections in Sinaiticus. …The New Testament…is extremely unreliable…on many occasions 10, 20, 30, 40, words are dropped…letters, words, even whole sentences are frequently written twice over, or begun and immediately canceled.” - Tischendorf (who called it the greatest find of his life) “By any conceivable metric (except age), Codex Sinaiticus is one of the worst manuscripts that we’ve found.” - Berean Patriot According to Herman C. Hoskier, there are 3,036 textual variations between Sinaiticus and Vaticanus in the text of the Gospels alone. “It is in fact easier to find two consecutive verses in which these two manuscripts differ the one from the other, than two consecutive verses in which they entirely agree.” - Dean Burgon A scholar named Sir James Donaldson, born 1831, knighted by King Edward VII, honoured with two doctorates besides the one he earned, described in two encyclopedias and author of several books on Greek language and culture, in his book "The Apostolical Father" p387 says of the Sinaiticus,"Tischendorf assigns this manuscript to the fourth century: but the data on which dates are assigned to uncials [the letters drawn] are exceedingly unsatisfactory and entirely negative. The utmost that can be based on the data in this case is that it may have been written in he fourth century. There is ample room for discussing the age and value of the manuscript from internal evidence..." He then goes on to point out anomalies in the Greek where it is either translated from Latin or uses many modern Greek words unknown to the classical period. He concludes that the earliest it could have been written was in the 6th century. Interestingly, both the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus share a unique division of chapters in Acts that leads scholars to believe that they were housed together in Caesarea in the 6th century while being copied. It is indeed odd that when Tischendorf visited St. Catherine's Monastery, they had that day decided to burn the Sinaiticus and taken it out ready for the fire, where he saw it.

How bad is it? The manuscripts egregiously drop the whole of Mark 16:9-20. Only three other manuscripts do the same thing and they have similar indications of corruption. The Gnostics in Alexandria used to cut out bits of manuscripts, for which Iraeneus rebuked them. If you go into the historical records you find plenty of evidence that these missing verses were present in original texts before these two manuscripts were written around the late 300s. To take just a few examples: In the case of Mark 16:9-20, Irenaeus (born around 120 AD, taught by Polycarp who in turn had listened to the apostle John) explicitly quotes Mark 16:19 around 180 AD in Book 3 of Against Heresies, chapter 10, paragraph 5, stating, “Also, towards the conclusion of his Gospel, Mark says: ‘So then, after the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God.’” Although that comes from the Latin version and we only have fragments of the original Greek version today, there are also three ancient Greek copies of Mark from around 400 AD (texts GA 1582, 72 and 2954) which write in the margin of Mark 16:19 that “Irenaeus, who lived near the time of the apostles, cites this from Mark in the third book of his work Against Heresies” - proving that the long version of Mark was present 150-200 years before these few corrupt manuscripts with the shorter version. In the case of missing verse Acts 8:37, the words were quoted by Irenaeus around 180 AD and again by Cyprian around 250 AD. Pretty hard to see how Philip could have written the account in such a way that Irenaeus knew who said what without the written version including that verse in it from the start. Verse 38 does not even naturally flow from verse 36, because without verse 37, Philip never answers the question - the eunuch simply stops the chariot. But more importantly, the verse is present in the Coptic manuscript G67 from around 380 AD. In the case of Ephesians 3:9, And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ, both manuscripts, (and many others, it must be said), do not have “by Jesus Christ”. However, John Chrysostom quotes the full verse at around 380 AD, showing it was known in even earlier texts. And as a final example, the story of the woman caught in adultery is missing, John 7:40-8:11. But Augustine (born 354 AD) comments on the passage in his Tractate 33 on the Gospel of John. There are many more examples.

But could Westcott and Hort, the authors of the Critical Text, have been sincere? No. First of all, neither Westcott nor Hort believed that God’s Word was inspired and true in every word, nor that the garden of Eden was real. They believed in Darwin’s evolution. They felt, like the Gnostics, that the idea of Jesus’s substitutionary sacrifice of his good for our sin was immoral and that heaven was a place in man’s mind which mankind could attain by following Christ’s principles, who was not the Word but a created being to be worshipped along with his mother Mary. They did not believe that hell was a place of punishment but merely a place for the departed, and were members of spiritist societies: the Hermes Club, and the Ghostly Guild which they founded to help with talking to the dead. They hated the existing Bible translations. Hort called the Textus Receptus, which the King James version closely matched, “villainous” and “vile”. Secondly, both manuscripts share a sure error in Matthew 27:49. It adds a description of the spearing of Jesus on the cross with blood and water coming out, (a sign that Jesus had been dead for long enough for the blood in his heart cavity to settle out), BEFORE Jesus cries out and gives up the Spirit, which we know is physiologically impossible. The Critical Text authors used the Codex Vaticanus/Sinaiticus, wherever they matched, as a strict rule to justify changing the known Bible in contradiction to thousands of reliable texts, and yet they wouldn't change the Bible to match here - hypocrites! And even the Codex Sinaiticus Project website, while displaying the Greek which shows that sentence, hides the spearing account by cutting it out of the online parallel translation into English on the same page! When you see a Bible footnote that says “the earliest and most reliable manuscripts”, they are almost always talking about these two corrupt manuscripts.

Compare John 3:16 in the KJV and NIV: KJV: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son… NIV: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son… Is it important what begotten means? It does not mean “one” or “only”, but to be born of, or to have a child. The Greek word is mono-gene, or literally, only-born. Let's see how the Bible uses “begotten”: Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises [that in Isaac his seed would be called, therefore he trusted God to raise him up again!] offered up his only begotten son and with reference to Christians born again: 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, But even more of a mystery is that Jesus too as a man was born again, begotten the day God raised him from the dead: Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, ‘I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son’? (1 Samuel 7:14) It is beyond our ability to understand how God can die, and be sin, but Jesus did - He became like us, a man, and he was made sin so that we could be given his righteousness, and was then raised up as God’s Son, born again by the Spirit, just as we are when we receive him. To hide this glorious mystery is wicked.

But these same people who knowingly use corrupted texts also malign the King James falsely in several ways, primarily as being based on poor texts or none at all, which was a lie from the 1600s. The King James translators agreed with almost all of the Textus Receptus, the commonly agreed most accurate translation of the 1600s except by pro-Catholic, pro-Latin Vulgate scholars who did not like what the Greek texts said. They provably falsely accused Erasmus, author of the first few editions of the Textus Receptus, of backtranslating from the Latin and having only one Greek version of Revelation. Even more egregiously, all these scholars hide the fact that Stefanus, a later author of the Textus Receptus, found 15 ancient Greek manuscripts in the French King's library of such good quality that he called them "almost worthy of adoration" - but some unknown time after he published his work and returned the manuscripts, they mysteriously disappeared from the King's library. There are also a number of interesting anomalies about the King James text: The number of times the name of Jesus or Christ and variations thereof is mentioned is 980, or twice seventy times seven. But the real kicker is when you count the number in the odd and even books of the New Testament. The odd books have in total nearly double the number of words (117k) of the even books (62k), yet the number of mentions is perfectly split between them: 70 x 7 in each, where John has all the extra mentions (256, or 2 to the power of 8). Not counting anti-mentions which is where the word refers to something else other than God, Father appears 7 x 37 times, or 777 / 3 times, while Son appears 7 x 33 times, or 77 x 3 times, and both in total appear seventy times seven times. Taking every printed word and verse number in the King James Bible, including the book title “Holy Bible" and "King James Version”, and excluding ‘The End’ if present, there are exactly 7 to the power of 7 of them. And many more.

Let's be clear. The reason that Everhart pushes the ESV or LSB is because he's caught up in the cult of Calvinism. Everyone in the Reformed camp reads the same Bible, the same books, and they only listen to Calvinist teachers. They believe they are intellectually superior and worship at the alter of Calvin who himself was involved in evil acts.. Not to mention the false teaching of Calvin and now all those who have come after him who teach this same heresy. They are typically the coldest people you'll ever meet because the most important thing to them is attaining (false) knowledge instead of a personal relationship with the true and living God! When you read Calvin you'll find no mention of God's love...only His wrath! This may make some uncomfortable to hear but it's truth that needs to be said and confronted!

Northern Seminary originated as Northern Baptist T.S., a conservative alternative to the U. of Chicago Divinity School which Rockefeller $$$ made sure was theologically liberal. This is mentioned in "The Bible in the Balance." It became a Baptist and Anglican seminary.

Its almost comical how hard the corrupt bible promoters have to work to find an excuse to make another video against the King James Bible. So, this one is trying to sell everyone on the idea that the NEW "King James" is sooooo similar to the real Bible. Well, if that's truly the case then the only reason to cook up this NEW one was just to make a few bucks...right? If only it was that simple. No, the REAL reason for ALL of the corrupt translations is that they are a gateway drug to get people hooked on the idea that the REAL authority is not the Bible, but is instead the "scholars" who stand in judgement of the Bible. The REAL ulterior motive of the Satanic versions is to get people to accept the idea that us lowly "peons" NEED these "scholars" to speak on behalf of God because God really must be some type of feeble liar who can't preserve his Word as he promised in Psalms 12:6-7. If that is what you think of God, then that is your choice, but as for me...I believe in a God who can't lie, and I don't care how many "scholarly" serpents hiss on about "Yea, hath God said?"...I will stick with the book that God PERFECTLY preserved. If I had the ORIGINAL handed to me directly by Paul himself, with the ink still wet..I'd toss it aside and keep the King James Bible.

Boy, this response is excellent! The explanation regarding YHWH is one reason I'm not a big fan of the LSB. Not only is it uncertain how it was to be pronounced, but wouldn't consistency demand that we transliterate (vs. translate) all the other divine names (Elohim, Adonai) as well? Also, the LXX (the real "Bible that Jesus and Paul used") translated it as "Lord". So "if it was good enough for Jesus and Paul..." Dr. Das explains well why to not use capitalizations for divine pronouns, that it causes the translator to unnecessarily become an interpreter, e.g. in 2 Thes 2:7, where the NKJV supports the dispensational view that the restrainer is the Holy Spirit who supposedly departs at the "Rapture". The casual reader likely won't realize that the capitalization is not a part of the autographs. Spirit-inspired ambiguity in the autographs should be retained in translations. Well stated!

I currently have (among my collection) a KJV Thompson Chain Reference Bible which my husband (now with the Lord) bought me in 1980. It is coming apart even thought it’s been in a zipped Bible case since day one, and I am looking to replace it with another Thompson Chain Reference Bible but need a larger font. It is my very favorite Bible. I’ve recently taken to using a magnifying glass to read/study and it is difficult even with line free bifocals. I think this is most likely an 8.5 font. I would like to get a 12 font or higher in this same Bible but can’t seem to find one. I came across your site and appreciate your videos and thought you might have a suggestion where I can find a larger font copy of this great Bible! Thanks for taking time to read this. I’ll be checking back to see if you have any suggestions.

I was gifted a amp bible a few years ago. Im on my new journey with Christ and looking to update. NASB is something that looks readable and understandable to me, but i do want to get into NKJB too. I might get both!! I personally enjoy the footnotes mainly since reading the truth is hard as a younger person. It helps me apply it better in my life!

@1:06:55 Since 1960 the Catholic Church has endorsed Nestles/Aland Novum Testamentum Greace and United Bible Societies texts. By extension it endorses any version translated from them. They wouldn't do so unless those texts supported their ecumenical "Counter Reformation" which has the goal of returning the wayward protestants to Mother Church. Having the Apocrypha (meaning not inspired) in any one of these modern translations is another step in that direction. How soon we forget that from the 4th century onward most of the Christian martyrs until as late as 1860 were slain by Mother Church.

A very enlightening interview. I've occasionally consulted the CSB via online apps but haven't used it in depth and don't have a printed edition. This piqued my interest. My wife and I are nearing completion of reading through the BSB chronologically in one year (using the Olive Tree app). I'm considering doing the same in 2025 using the CSB to immerse ourselves in it more. Thanks for the interesting session. Merry Christmas.

Julie did not know that you accused John Macarthur of not taking a stand for a member in the church and also regarding his home being a mansion. Julie one of the reasons I left prosperity Gospel was because of preachers like John MacArthur, Paul washer and Justin peters. They have always consistently spoken on what accords to sound doctrine. They have been a reason why I was able to be part of a sound biblical church in India and I am being taught by able elders. Brother John Macarthur preaching expositional has changed lives of people in India and other countries, people have been able to let go of their sinful lifestyle with the help of the Holy spirit. He is the mind behind the master’s university ranking 2nd best this year, master’s seminary and the grace to you church. His sermons are free with great quality picture and sound, it is translated in many languages. Grace to you has stores in different countries that provide Christian literature at an affordable price. It is not a sin to be rich, but the love of money is the root of all evil. You need to look at the impact his ministry has made world over, a man is known by the fruits he bears for the Glory of God. I am sure they must have done the right thing with the member who accused her husband of molesting the kids and hitting her. Many a times in ministry you are wrongly accused ,even by those closest to you. Spouses are known for not acknowledging Christ, the way the other spouse does. Sometimes children too, do not like to be preached the Gospel and play along with the parent in accusing the other parent. Most of the puritans were wrongly accused and martyred. A missionary named waman tilak who lived in the 1900’s had his wife leave him, because of his love and zeal for Christ. She accused her husband of demon possession and left him. She felt she had better chances of survival with her husband out of the picture. But later before the death of Waman Tilak she found Christ and went to live with her husband. Only years of knowing someone, you can truly judge the character or nature of the person. Praying you will see the preaching of brother John Macarthur and how God has been using him to bring clarity to the Gospel and Gods word.

I just wish they used the TR instead of the evolving critical apparatus. They base their text on 2 manuscripts procured by heretics, worked on by Unitarians and distributed with the oversight of the Vatican. No thanks. I will keep my KJB.

I will start with my first claim on the founders of the critical text as heretics. “(Jesus) never speaks of Himself directly as God, but the aim of His revelation was to lead men to see God in Him.” -Westcott stating that Jesus is not God. “(John) does not expressly affirm the identification of the Word with Jesus Christ.” -Westcott stating that John never affirms Jesus as the Word. “I reject the infallibility of Holy Scriptures overwhelmingly.” -Westcott rejecting the Bible as being infallible. “Evangelicals seem to me perverted. . .There are, I fear, still more serious differences between us on the subject of authority, especially the authority of the Bible.” -Westcott denying the authority of the Bible. “(Hell is) not the place of punishment of the guilty, (it is) the common abode of departed spirits.” -Westcott denying the punishment of souls for not accepting Christ. “We have no sure knowledge of future punishment, and the word eternal has a far higher meaning.” -Hort denying the punishment of souls for not accepting Christ. Over the years the TR appeared in various editions and iterations, which means that it too had to include some form of a critcal apparatus to determine what would be included or excluded in each edition. There is NO final, divinely approved edition of the TR.

Which TR? One of 5 Erasmus' editions? Beza? Or maybe Stephanus' that was produced 260 years after the KJV?

BTW, most newer translations do not follow exclusively a single CT (UBS or NA) but usually an ecclectic one.

@@sbs8331 some texts that should be used are Soncino Hebrew text of 1488, Bomberg's of 1516, the Rabbinic Bibles of Pratensis of 1517 the ben Chayim of 1525, and the Stephanus of 1539. Additional Greek texts that should be used are Erasmus of 1516, 1519, 1522, 1527 and 1535, Colineaus 1534; Stephanus 1546, 1549, 1550 and 1535; Beza’s of 1565, 1582, 1588 and 1598; the Nurnberg Polyglot 1599; the Syriac of Widmanstadt of 1555 and Tremellius of 1559

There are many different versions of scripture. I personally know of 75. The bottom line is, you can never get away from the very first English language Bible, which is the Douay-Rheims Version. It is the English version of the very first Bible, that being the Latin Vulgate. Jerome finished translating the Hebrew scriptures and the Greek scriptures into Latin in the year 405, and made the first Bible. Many scholars say the Old testament was in Hebrew, and the New testament were in Greek. However, it's my understanding that the gospel of Matthew, too, was in Hebrew. But it doesn't really matter. Personally, I'm not even sure why The Church doesn't use it. There are at least 75 versions for different reasons. I like the RSV and the NAB. The NAB is the only one that starts with the word new that I trust. I don't trust versions that begin with the word new.

@22:59 We have already addressed the fact that indeed Erasmus did have access the the Vaticanus. So his argument at this point is without merit. Text critics regularly find ways to violate their own text critical rules but the two rules they always follow is that KJV is always wrong and Erasmus is to be besmirched.

@22:38 The Alexandrian text type is a local text, with few (very few) exceptions is only found in Alexandria Egypt. It did not gain wide acceptance. The most famous are Sinaiticus (Aleph), Vaticanus (B) and Alexandrinus. The total number of this family is 40 (or at most 50) MSS. The two oldest Aleph and B omit the last 12 verses of Mark's Gospel. Alexandrinus contains them. All three are believed to have been copied from an even older exemplar which contained the last 12 verses of Mark. Yet in-spite of the strong evidence for the existence of the last 12 verses of Mark, the text critics will leave them out and claim in a footnote that they "are not in the oldest". I a PE major beg to differ.

They want us to believe that on the Greek MSS can have any real bearing on the text of scripture. It is as if the ancient versions and fathers (quotations of scripture) have no bearing whatsoever. Oops should I define whatsoever? Its an English word, look it up.
