“Natural drama”. 😂 Love it! We all have our drama. Nice review. Really liked the idea of stiffer board blocks. I’m looking forward to comparing the menswear book as well. Thank you!!! 👏👏👏

I use a french custom patternmaking system. Style ease is added in equal amounts to chest, bust and hips. waist is less and sometimes abodomen. Upper arm and wrist get ease. The ease is added into the body measurements. Resulting total is used when calculating half, quarters and so on.

Nice video!❤ and yes that ease problem... am a design student and i use this book, i have to understand these blocks off head but till now am confused as to why i have to divide a certain measurement by a 12th, 6th or quarter 😢 so frustrating...

Thank you so much! I am also confused :D And now I need to draft a sleeve to go with the block and I'm sure it's going to be weird!

Very insightful, thanks! I liked it. I'm going to get the book for "mean's wear". There is also this version. For the block bodice, is any different than for today (since you said, you can tell is from the 80's)? The bodies are pretty much the same, right? Btw, Have you read any book less 80-ish and more from today?

I only have another book from the 1890s :D (so no comparison, sorry). I guess it's very much more a bodice block, rather than a sloper? The real difference is there is A LOT more ease than I would expect from a more modern pattern, but as long as you know that's going it happen it's easy enough to remove it!

One pattern maker said she can’t get the sleeves to work no matter how she tries even though she recommends this book. Back in the eighties I bought it when first doing pattern cutting . I have 1989 edition and 6th edition.
