So today I spontaneously thought why do I read? Do I even like reading? Like am I just reading because everyone is? Do I just buy books because of the cover?(that I probably do but that's not the only thing) Like am I forcing myself to read? So I went into a puddle of thoughts ( not necessarily good thoughts for a reader. I was possibly going in a reading slump) and ur video popped up.( ur videos are so amazayn❤. Like whenever I'm in a reading slump I could just watch one of ur video and I can fall in love with books again) So the answer for my questions is - books make me feel a certain way. The kind of way no one can ever make me feel. They take me to a different world❤ a world sometimes better than this or sometimes worse than this. And I love that feeling. And that is why I read books. And there may be times when I'm forcing myself to read.(But from now on I'm gonna stop doing that) Welp this is kind of an essay.. Nonetheless I really wanted to share my thoughts. Loving the vlog❤ PS. I have decided to open a booktube.. I won't necessarily post long videos for now but yeah I'm starting with shorts😌 I didn't know u sing so well👀 🧙♀️

Okay, so I wanted to ask since you clearly love Sanderson and Lexi loved it, why do you like it? I tried and I honestly couldn’t get into it. I could see it getting epic, but I’m also not a big fantasy person so it just might not be my thing. I’m curious as to what’s so great about it?
@sophiasthoughts3 жыл бұрын
@@Kaylin_elizabeth well, I've loved reading fantasy since I was a kid, so that's the perspective I'm coming from, I just love reading fantasy. There are a lot of reasons I like his books specifically though. I love his characters and connect with them a lot, especially with all the mental health themes he explores. I really enjoy the magic systems he creates and how rule based they are, that's something that really works for me. I'm not a big fan of soft magic systems, I like to know what the limitations are because it increases the stakes for me. I also really enjoy the very subtle foreshadowing he does so that, when you get to the end, you get your mind totally blown. Those are the main things for me I think.

I'll need to try Brandon Sanderson! I have a student in the school library where I work who is OBSESSED with his books- he'll literally come sit on the floor at lunchtime next to the shelves and read one of Sanderson's novels the whole time. If you haven't already, you should check out The Death Gate Cycle series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman when you're ready for another adult high fantasy! There are seven books; the first four read almost like stand-alones, and then the storylines converge in the final three books. I read the first three in my high school mythology class, and I'm currently re-reading them after five years. They can be a tiny bit slow at times while they flesh out the world building and magic explanation, but it's very much worth the read!!
