Great review! Really extensive and thorough, and it's the first time I have seen this edition up close. :) I love the dust cover design with Tolkien's own art. Thank you!

Pontus Presents Thank you. :) I was a bit worried about making this video, as I have no way of editing. It had to go right on one sitting. I too adore the dust covers. The art is beautiful. I was actually looking for info about this edition when I first came across your channel.

Kudos to you for doing it in one sitting! :) I would certainly have a hard time doing that, haha!

Great Finnish accent! Thanks for the review. The cover art is nice but I wish they had made the spines uniform and matching so it looks more like a proper set or collection.
@jessekoskinen7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I understand what you mean about the spines, but I still really like them. :)

At least there is the option, I'm sure, to remove the dust jackets so they look like a matching set.
@jessekoskinen7 жыл бұрын
unlockthepower Yeah, you can just take them off to get the matching look. They look good even without dust covers.

Thanks for the review. I have been looking for a nice LOTR box for quite some time, and your video made my mind. This one looks awesome! I just bought it in Brazil for 300 reals, which is about 80 euros, so I think I even got it cheap :)

I found the paperback versions of these specific editions on Meraci, I love hardcover but they are not friendly haha they are a hassle to carry around and then to keep “safe” so they don’t get ruined. I can see the texture of the books are not glossy which is great! Helps keep dust off and not noticeable. I’ve noticed UK and Canada get some really cool versions as well as far as covers go.

What does the reader's companion cover?
@jessekoskinen6 жыл бұрын
Vivek Acharya Hello! This is a direct quote from the book: "In The Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion internationally acclaimed scholars Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull examine Tolkien's epic work chapter by chapter, offering expert insights into its evolution, structure, and meaning. They discuss important influences on its development, connections between that work and other writings by Tolkien, errors and inconsistencies, significant changes to the text, and archaic and unusual words used by Tolkien. Thousands of notes, keyed to standard editions of The Lord of the Rings but universally accessible, reveal the richness and complexity of one of the most popular works of fiction in our time. " Thank you for watching and commenting.
