And every morning as my father drove us both to school (me to learn, him to teach a grade ahead of mine), this song came on. I can still hear the D.J., "...and that was Booker T. and the M.G.'s, with 'Time...is Tight.' " He always paused after the first word. It wasn't a recording, either, because he went right into the weather forecast after that. And yet... I never tired of the song. Not once did I say, "This again??"

This is a 'classic ' in every possible way! Definitely one of the top instrumental pieces of all times. I can remember, back in the day when radio stations had real newscasts., This was often used as the instrumental fill in up to the news. I always hated that I never got to hear the piece till the very end because of it

Heard this tune first when DJ Johnny Walker used it as his backing to announcing the Weekly top 20 chart singles every Tuesday lunchtime in the UK in the 1970’s . He gave credit to this fantastic band frequently. I am spellbound by its simplicity and sophistication all at once , truly brilliant musicians.

Listened to a Johnnie walker podcast about his time on radio one recently interviewed by Sean Tilley and he mentioned this was a perfect song for the chart run down as by and large the track became louder the longer the song progressed and had a stronger beat. And id never noticed that before but he was so right. Perfect for a countdown.......

620 dislikes, WHAT??? how could anyone dislike this mighty Hammond organ, and the rhythm section, heavenly music, first heard this played in the 60's in a fantastic Shopping Emporium in Singapore , I spoke with the Manager there and he had an obsession with this and Green Onions, it was obviously popular with the Singaporeans as he had been asked to have this played as a request several times, (of course they had a wonderful record section where I bought my copy and I still play it. There are very few of today's 'groups' who play this inimitable sound, sadly, todays synthesised noise i isn't worth rats arse.

Booker T, Al, Duck, Steve - Steve freaking Cropper are you kidding me?! These studio guys were enormously influential in the music recorded by so many musicians back in the day. And to hear Steve recount his first encounter with my personal favorite, Otis, is very revealing of their influence on great music. Love you guys for making me happy all my life!
