January 1974 I worked my last shift in the steel mill. The next morning I got on a bus to the Pittsburgh airport to move to California. The temperature was close to zero degrees. My brother picked me up at the San Francisco airport and it was a glorious day driving over the Bay bridge. It was then that this song came on the radio. Was feeling like I never had before. Driving over the bay on a glorious sunny day and listening to this song. It was my start to a whole new life.

This is my favorite song in life! It's smooth, it's mellow, it's soothing. It makes me think of happy times, when all of my family was still alive; when we had trees on the block, when there was still a thing called community. It gets to my soul and marrow. Oh my. I hurt for you. I introduced my father to this tune many years ago and he just loved it...and then died in 2014. I still miss him seven years on, so can only remember the sadness you are dealing with right now. It's still there and always will be, but the sharp edge is dulled a bit with time too. I hope you will experience the same. All my best to see you through these terrible times. Maybe it will help, if only a tiny bit. And otherwise, if I may be so bold, do remember this tune literally SOARS upward with hope and happiness. I think your mom would still want to give this gift to you, as my father would wish to share it we me. We are both sad...but lucky to have had them too.

I dedicate this song to my dad!!! Who's going on 83 years old!!! I had a great daddy!!! I'm 53 yrs old, and I can still remember my dad taking me to the Rialto Theater here in Atlanta to see Godzilla vs Megalon!!!! Lol. I remember this song playing before the movie started. He also would, believe it or not, take me to the zoo every time I asked him! I don't remember him ever turning me down! He has early stage of dementia; my daddy cries sometimes because he can't find things because he forgets where he puts them. Wow, this is tough. I love him! He saved my life once from drowning, he bought my first and second car! But back to the zoo! He would hold me on his shoulders as I looked at Willie B! It was just me and him doing these things! He saved my life again at Six Flags!! I got on the parachutes with him, and I slid down under the bar. He said that his eyes were close, because we were so high, and he said when he opened them, I was hanging on to the bar that was supposed to be across my lap. He pulled me back up. I can go on and on, but I just wanted to dedicate this masterpiece of a song to my great and wonderful dad!!! I think of him and us when I hear this!! Great memories of us together in the 70s! I never felt unloved by him still to this day!! He still tries to look after me!!! What a good man!!!! I love you dad!!!! I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!!!

I'll be 62 in a few weeks. Today, I heard this at my favorite barbershop, and man! The memories flooded back. Thank God I grew up in the 70s and got to experience great music like this from Barry White, and the other musicians and singers of yesteryear...like Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Teddy Pendergrass, Gladys Knight, Al Green, Earth, Wind & Fire, Average White Band, Isley Brothers, Ohio Players, Parliament-Funkadelic, etc. We had/have it good!!! We heard it when it was new, and we get to reminisce.

First time I heard this, I was changing channels for my dad because I was his remote control in the 70’s. He made me stop on CBS for the Masters and this song was the intro. I fell in love immediately. Still one of my top 10 songs to this day. This song just says class to me.

Somebody at CBS sports was in tune with the times. They also used ELO's "Fire on High" for the CBS Sports Spectacular.

@@thomasusiak6971 Loved sports spectacular. The ELO intro was major bad ass. I remember the drag car with flames shooting out. Can’t forget Monday Night Football’s opening theme with Howard Cosell doing the voice intro. Damn that used to jack me up. One more Mills Lane the boxing ref who would yell “Let’s get it on!” that just gave me goosebumps. Sad that nothing compares today. Now I have to put on my ELO cd, cheers🍷

I'll never forget when I first heard this song, It raised the hair on my arms, and I danced by myself.. It is THE PERFECT BLEND a symphony orchestra and a funk tune.. It set a standard that was followed by many artist. The melody just soars from place to place. It is so infectious and majestic.. I'd sit by the turntable, lift the needle and restart instantly. Barry White honed his producing and arranging skills for other artists before he decided to step into the spotlight. It truly is one of the most beautiful songs made in the 20th century.

This song embodies the 1970s, it is a musical representation of love, hope, passion, and renewal. There is something in this music that generates upliftment. I was a baby when this song was released but I heard it playing as part of the backdrop of my life, one of the anchors in my life's soundtrack. That you Mr. Barry White for this expression of love- keep soaring

You know what? It was true godliness. Because positive energy is what it's all about and when we were on the dance floor there wasn't anything more positive.
