Brokers should be calling carriers for pricing not the other way around. But when you take a look at truckers and notice they wear sandals while fueling, it's pretty much game over! SMH

Yes you are right. Go into a Truckstop and see these idiots. Wrap around cowboy hats and camel shoes. I’m glad I hardly spend time in Truckstops. Sad state of affairs.

Hi Miranda, as I wrote during one of the live the only step deck that make sense for o/o micro fleets is a 53' lo pro, tri axle with double lift, ca legal with 3rd axle up, ramps, load levelers, coil pack, strobe lights, all alu with nailer boards. Carry a spare tire with you, they're not always easy to find and thus expensive. A brand new one right now runs for 90k ish on truckpaper. You can load up to 10'6" high and still be legal. Don't shy away from overdimensional loads though, that's where the money is, even in this market. Get 40ft straps, plenty of OD crates coming out of ports of Long Beach, Longview, Seattle, Everett. That's easy money.

you bring up a good point with weekend loads. I've always had a feeling brokers strategize something you might feel is appealing and will hold over the weekend without issue, but they are getting you to hold it for free essentially. I've had loads like that, but it's only when I have a load going home. I park at home and a few days later it's just takes a few hours to unload monday morning and I'm back on break.

As a driver who has the expenses, there's a misconception with deadhead calculations. Especially in this environment. It's not only the miles it destroys HOS. 30+% of time lost = loss of revenue. It's a calculation you, industry, has used to manipulate the driver. So wouldn't it be more advisable to figure out how to reduce the deadhead. Also, give the driver more assistance while looking, working on it. Most major hubs will also adversely affect deadhead. Mistake? I'm paid % of load, not by miles

Another thing the industry needs to figure out is the Trackers. It's a phone. It doesn't have the storage that your desk does. Sorry, the customers have lost confidence in your abilities.

ET transport just exposed in their last videos that your break even point should always be 2:25. We should charge 2:25 on top of that for a total of 4:50 per mile. Let's get a nationwide push. Every one start pushing these brokers with no overhead making 2k per load.

why don't you start calling local businesses? I start cold calling businesses asking if they got any freight they need hauled. This does two things for me, maybe I get a load, but even better, it gains me future customers in a bad area. :). I hardly use load boards these days. I get so many load list from doing all the cold calling.

Hi Miranda! May I asked if there were any penalties for turning your step deck in early? Where would you recommend renting one from. It's been hard to find!
@TruckingMadeSuccessful
@TruckingMadeSuccessful 8 ай бұрын
I rent form TNT in Villa Ridge MO. The penalty is that when you take it for 6 months for example, you pay a reduced monthly rate. If you return early, you have to pay the balance of the full rate for the time you used it!

Correct me if I am wrong. Most truckers are either Dry van or Reefer. Very few are flat bed. I have noticed, you concentrate on flat bed. Can I ask why. Is it because you are in that business and it is convenient for you or I am wrong with the assumption that most truckers are in Dry Van or Reefer. I am just doing my research in trucking business so I can be wrong.
