I totally agree. If I read any type of romance I want it to focus on the romance. I especially hate fantasy romance which is too much fantasy. That’s my favorite genre but I’m always disappointed if the book that have the romance as the subplot. 🐙

yes omg please continue!! based on your critiques, I have a feeling you will really enjoy where the series goes. The fantasy elements remain prominent, but from here on out the romance (both the main one and the side ones) really get more pagetime and I looooved all the tension!!

I agree, the difference between romantasy and fantasy romance is so frustrating. I try not to use the romantasy term unless it's a fae type story or there's the love interests both on the cover. Otherwise everything else is fantasy romance (including YA fantasy) or romance (contemporary) or fantasy (adult fantasy/fantasy with no romance). I just hate that they brought out those two terms tbh

yeah I like to refer to fanro and romantasy as the same thing but fantasy with romance is different

Lol I’m adding Lady of Darkness to my TBR based on the things you weren’t loving 🤣 I prefer fantasy with little to no romance but if it’s there, I want it to be secondary to the fantasy and not take over the story. However, I am character driven and a bit worried about not caring about the characters. However, reading others comments I’m more hesitant. Guess I’ll find out when I try it! That’s part of the fun!

I guess maybe I have to figure out which things I like? Also, I agree on 3 star rating for me is still a book I liked and am glad I read 😊
