hi guys! I personally felt it was important to clarify some things about my ‘small things like these’ review: I didn’t mean to imply that the atrocities of the mother & baby homes are a sweet or cozy topic at all. I do see how this could be misinterpreted though. I more so meant that the setting of snowy Ireland felt cozy and our main hero is very kind and saintly. and these things in contrast with the horrors happening alongside that is an uncomfortable but important reality for the reader to grapple with. the fact that it takes place in the weeks leading up to Christmas caused me to think about the broader message in the context of the season. My favorite quote and takeaway was this: “…is there any point in being alive without helping one another?” I do apologize for my somewhat abridged review! I will admit I’ve been so focused on getting videos up for you guys for bookmas, I didn’t pause to explain myself well enough in the moment. happy holidays and love to you all! 💛

i personally really enjoyed mile high, it was different from a lot of romances I've read!! it's definitely a spicy series but I felt like it wasn't overdone from what I can remember. also reading the nightingale in jan/feb will be perfect, I'm pretty sure that's when I read it back in 2021 & it was the PERFECT time of year to read it

I can't wait to see how you use the bullet journal for your reading journal! I used to be a big bullet journal fan until it became too much to keep up with the monthly/weekly spreads. I may need to consider doing this for my reading journal in 2025.

The Nightingale, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue & The Women were SO GOOD and worth diving into!!! The Wedding People is set during the summer but also mainly focuses on the wedding/hotel so I didn't get insane summer vibes (I read it in December) - they do go out on a boat but I feel like you can read it during any point in the year! Throne of Glass is BY FAR my favorite book series of all time and I FLEW through them - it's so worth the read bc then you can dive into all the lore/tiktok edits!!

Love the idea of keeping your 25 list as books that you need a nudge on, I am going to do the same - and copy a few from your list! Would love to see your reading journal setup too, I use Notion but am interested in seeing something more creative. Your bookmas was fantastic, so appreciate all your efforts to treat us to all these videos ❤🎉 Merry Christmas Lottie!

Windy City is definitely a series to read! They can get a liiiiittle spicy, but not in a spice every chapter way where it is too much. I was on an athlete romance kick for a while and I like that the characters in these are adults vs college athletes
@kaleighmjones19 күн бұрын
I agree with this! The only time I had issues with the series is when I read them back to back because it almost felt repetitive, but if you throw a few books in the middle then I thought they were great.

I am the exact same way when it comes to Throne of Glass. I devour everything from SJM (read all 3 Crescent City books in under a week 😅) and Throne of glass is only thing left for me to read right now. You might want to listen to The NY Times book review podcast on the Claire Keegan book. It is a very deep book about the Magdalene laundries, the saddest of times in Ireland.
@LottieSmalley19 күн бұрын
Thank you for the rec, I’ll definitely give it a listen! I’m aware of the deep themes and thought provoking nature of the novella. I know the story highlights the atrocities of the Magdalene laundries, and while I may not have explicitly mentioned that in my review, I hadn’t had time to research it deeply before getting this video up, so I didn’t want to misspeak on such an important topic.
