He doesn’t seem to take into consideration that Presidential power and action was always going to expand beyond what Washington in the 18th century foresaw and often for the good. TR and Progressivism. FDR and the New Deal etc were very much needed in the circumstances of their time

Woodrow Wilson was a constitutional scholar and he understood that the presidency is the only office in the government the whole population of the county votes for. I see this as marbury vs Madison for the executive branch. I also find the fair, new, square, deals to be the countries way of coming to terms with some crisis. Remember they were all very popular with the voting masses, so sure maybe they skirt the edges of the constitution, they prevent revolutions and helped to hold the country together.
