Sharing the first vision on my mission was always the most powerful part of the lesson! Seemed like that’s always when a baby would start crying, a dog would start barking, a horn would honk, etc 😂

I never knew about the smiths being maple farmers and that Joseph Jr’s role was to be the peddler because of his leg. That was such a cool little addition to the story! It shows how God can truly consecrate anything for good- if it hadn’t been for the traumatic experience of everything Joseph went through with his leg he might have not ended up having so much access to all of these religious revival meetings and perhaps not gone down the path that led him to the first vision!

There is noise out there about the lack of evidence of the first vision, and the lack of evidence of Joseph even mentioning it to anyone. But we know this, the book of Mormon holds all the keys of the mysteries of the first vision. Because of the events of the book of Mormon and how it is brought into existence, we have to say that something happened prior to that event in order for Joseph to accomplish such a great work as he did. Also preceding The events of the first vision we know that there was a great excitement because of the volcano that erupted in Indonesia. This eruption caused an eruption of thought of is this last days and people were very excited about those who were prophesying such a thing. This would’ve moved Joseph Smith into a mindset of deep thought about his journey and where he stood when it came to his upcoming doom or eventual doom as we all see at sometime. It is recorded that he was studying the Bible and was going to different denominations to get some kind of connection to God in someway. The question is did he go out and pray. But again, if you book end, the two events that are evidence of an event that is central to the theme in which we are describing, which is the first vision it seems like the book of Mormon and it’s origin and the witnesses and the fact that the Lord said that this is my , would validate That the first vision actually did happen

It’s unfortunate that members turn away from their covenants when they learn of the different accounts of the first vision. 😢. I am grateful for platforms like this and scholars that can provide insight and at the end suggest we read the accounts and pray to know if they are true and in conjunction relate the first vision experience Joseph had.

Thanks for such a wonderful lesson on the history of the church. I enjoyed learning more about Joseph's vision. I didn't know there were so many versions. I really enjoy Steven Harper's comments. I'm looking forward to receiving your notes. Is there a time frame when we will start receiving them?

If Joseph didn't share the first vision with others, then how can he said or convince people that he was chosen to restore the gospel?
