Hi Spargel 📚. It's a shame you aren't really into books too much. I absolutely love reading and am a real bookworm. My favourite book is "Station Eleven" by Canadian author Emily St. John Mandel. It is a science fiction, adventure, thriller novel. I couldn't put it down. It's a real page turner that I highly recommend! ( amzn.to/32US2PO ) 📖

Hello, Jen. Thank you for this video. My favourite book is “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley. It is a classic of literature. Its plot is very captivating. Although this book was written more than two centuries ago, the topic is still relevant today because humans love to develop machines or technology without thinking about the consequences. These creatures are sometimes uncontrollable. For example, these days, scientists are developing bots that use artificial intelligence to perform tasks that previously could only be done by humans. On the other hand, my favourite genres are science and philosophy.

Hi miss I am Hadi. Nice to watch you contriving various ways having us learn new expression. Oh I have been a voracious reader of reader's digest.the best thing of this digest is that it introduce some new words in its every month edition and use them in a different way to inculcate them in reader's mind. And to instill technical and scientific information their layman approach is the best strategy to keep even a lay reader interested in it As for fiction from past I sometimes dabble in reading Greek mythology. I also love reading thriller, the what is next element of the plot keep you binding with the novel. However stupendous novel requires dog ear mark to continue from afterwards. Thanks

That is excellent English practice and a great way to gain new knowledge about a variety of topics😁. Reading about Greek mythology is also great fun. When I was about 10 years old I was obsessed with reading stories about Hercules 💪. Thanks for sharing 📖

Jen, I liked your lesson a lot 👏🏼. I like to read. Fist of all, I want to wish you are feeling better, and be aware of the fact, that the first priority in our life is taking care of our own health. I`ve read different genres according to the age at the moment. At the present time I’m reading a book by and Swedish author who wrote a trilogy. It is translated into English and of course it is a fiction. I mostly reed it to refresh my English. Keep taking care of yourself and thanks for the opportunity you give us to enjoy your lessons 🌹💖

However,as I mentioned before,I'm kind of busy for learning English for about three hours every day,I seldom have time to read books lately. Hello again,JeN! In Japan ,another state of emergency to prevent spreading COVID-19 has prevailed in almost all the parts of the country from April 28 through May 11. We should refrain from going out,we have to stay home as long as possible.I dare to think it's a good situation for me to study English harder though I worry about an exponential surge of the infection. Thanks to you,I was able to know the expression about borrowing a book from the library like this; “Take out a book from the library.” What is the appropriate phrasal verb to paraphrase the word ‘ return ’ in the sentence below? “ I went to the library to return a book”. Have a good one! Ikuo from Japan.
@JeNsJyugyou
@JeNsJyugyou 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Ikuo ✨. I am sorry to hear about the state of emergency in Japan these days. Here in Toronto we are also still in lockdown... everything has been closed for so long, but COVID cases are still increasing 😔. I hope that you, your family, and friends will stay safe and healthy during these unprecedented times 💐. I like your glass is half full attitude about the situation and how you see this as a positive opportunity to focus on studying English 👍🏻😎🤩. "Take out" is a great phrasal verb for borrowing a book from the library. We usually just say 'return' a book to the library, but some people may use the phrasal verb 'take back' a book to the library. If I am just quickly going to return a book to the library I would probably use the phrasal verb 'drop off' the book at the library 📚. I hope that helps 📖. Take care 🌸.

I am not a book worm, I like biography and travelogue, I also enjoy reading other types of books. Some of internationally Known books I have read: 1. 1984(highly recommended, specially if you live in Iran these days) 2. Quran 3. Just for Fun: The Story of an Accidental Revolutionary(it was so captivating), 4. My Life by Anton Chekhov(I couldn't get into it) 5. The Alchemist(I just tore through it) 6. Shahname(If you want inform about Iranian pre-Islam culture you should read this book) . ... I don't want write a long list but 8 is very important in the list 8. All books by Guy Delisle (graphic novels about his travels, specially Jerusalem that was so realistic, fun and awesome) Eke my brothers book about his travel to Germany, was a real page turner book(I have read his book three times.)
@evawind
@evawind 7 ай бұрын
1984 was written by a person who NEVER WENT TO THE COUNTRY, which is SUPPOSEDLY described in it. Assuming that a person can write something more or less credible about a topic he is well informed about, he was writing about the UK (!). As a matter of fact, Orwell was accussed of leaking info about his comrads -- Comminism sympathisers -- to the GB secret services. The consequences for those on the list were grim (talking about the hackneyed "western democracy" and "freedom of speech". Can such a person be trusted??? Keep in mind the fate of Julian Assange -- he's being held in the UK's high security prison and is under threat of extradition to the US for disclosing the truth about the US servicemen killing innocent civilians and Reutors reporters in Iraq (and he is not even a US citizen!). Is THIS the democracy they are harping about? My point -- research before jumping the gun. Think hard before swooning the "grass that is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence". Analyse the fate of your neighbour countries that fell victims of "Arab springs" and the like by calculating the number of victims of the so-called "regeme" and the number of victims after the "regeme" was dismanteled. I won't even go into the "western values" issue not to vomit in front of the PC. Neither will I talk about inhumane western sanctions imposed on your country leaving it without medicine necessary to save lives of CIVILIANS. All the best. Cheers from Russia ;).

Hello Jose 📚. Thanks for your nice comment. I am also an avid reader 📖. I have many books I love, but I actually do have a favourite novel..."Station Eleven" by Canadian author Emily St. John Mandel. I highly recommend it! ( amzn.to/32US2PO ) 📖
