Trigger warning: Self-harm I forgot to mention that I felt like ‘I Am J’ romanticized mental illness and self-harm. The main character, J, notices that a friend is self-harming, but does not care. (Again, I think he is a jerk.) Later, the friend self-harms in public as part of an art project, which was partially J's idea. In my opinion, this book was quite harmful. Though it made strides in having a transgender main character, the negatives far outweigh the positives.

Zoe can you go live when you're doing readathon??? At least for 30 minutes?? Edit: I'll give you the sun is such a beautiful book. I've read it more then 6 times and it's all underlined and some pages where falling out so it's all taped. I'll give you the sun actually helped me overcome my depression after my mother died (I also stopped competitive horse riding that'd I'd been doing since I was 7 and this book reminded me that I should never give up on my dreams just because I'd lost some races and had some bumps along the way) so it was SOOOO beautiful and I have an attachment to it. I'm so glad you liked it Zoe❤️❤️

Recommendations for books with transgender protagonists: The Art Of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo George by Alex Gino I know TAOBN had a lot of research before writing it, IIWYG is own voices and George is by a non-binary author, so I trust that tje representation is good, but due to the fact I don't identify as transgender I can't truly speak for how well transgender individuals are represented in these books.

For anyone who's thinking of reading it, though, I would warn that If I Was Your Girl has a TW for sexual assault, as well as a biphobic "bisexual villain" stereotype in it. :/

You should watch Saving Mr Banks. It's a Disney movie about the creation of the Mary Poppins movie and the author's back story. It will explain A LOT about the differences between the books (Mary Poppins is the first in a series) and the movie. It also goes into why there is only one Mary Poppins movie. Before going into it, however, there are some trigger warnings for alcoholism, suicide, dysfunctional family issues, and mental illness.

I'm reading 'The art of being normal' from Lisa Williamson... I didn't know what to expect but I'm now 100 pages in and it turns out pretty okay... I think you could see this as middle grade and I'm not sure if it's an accurate descibtion of what someone goes through but it keeps you wonering what will happen. It's about a boy named Leo who has a secret and wants to be invisible and about another boy, Dave who wants to be a girl and things start to unravel when Leo stands up for Dave in a fight.

I really enjoyed Ms. Marvel when I read it earlier this semester. I also stopped reading The Heroes of Olympus series halfway through the second book, and I feel like I'm missing out on so much fandom content because of that! I've become an outsider to the fandom, so whenever I see fanart of Percy/Annabeth/whoever, I feel like I can't form an opinion about it since I don't know enough! I love that copy of I'll Give You The Sun--but I get so stressed out when I lend it to anyone because it can get ruined so easily. Also I forgot there were ghosts???????
