The seasonal soul is such a beautiful book, it’s not working with the seasons as such, it’s more what season your soul is in. Your soul could be in winter but the season could be summer. The witch alone book was my first witch book I ever read back in the 90s when no internet even existed.
@DawnMichelleTarot5 жыл бұрын
That is true, I did read that in the book as well. I'm still trying to figure out what season my soul is in right now so I'm just following along with the current season for my first read through. I have a feeling it is a book I'll return to again and again. :) I did enjoy A Witch Alone, it wasn't one I had seen before so I am glad I got a chance to read it. Thank you for watching!

Oh my, "I love books as much as tarot", says a woman after my own heart, lol. I have loved books my entire life, all kinds, all subjects. Thank you for this video, I am very interested in the The Seasonal Soul Book !! I am reading for July, Ancestral Medicine by Daniel Foor, Ph.D and Craft of the Wild Witch by Poppy Palin. Enjoy!!

I 100% agree about guidebooks in Tarot! I am a guidebook junkie. I think any deck that includes a book is actually 2 things. Artist interpretation and the intention of the writer. If you ignore one of those things you lose half of the delicious knowledge and insight. Although Starchild didn’t work for me, I may look into that book you showed. Looks great.

I totally love the illustrations of the last book...sooo beautiful!A Witch Alone is a book I would like to read, although so far I don't call myself a witch ...but then again this is a word that everyone uses in a different way I guess :) (so I maybe one and not knowing it yet!)

That's pretty much how I felt, I don't really call myself a witch but I do really resonate with alot of the practices and thoughts so I like to read alot of "witchy" books. But then I also read about and follow a lot of other practices too. 😊 Thank you for watching! ❤️

Interesting books. Thanks for the intro to the books. I have the Tarot elements with the deck. Love the deck cause I trimmed and edged it. It’s easier for me to riffle shuffle. I wish I could read more than I do. I’m lazy.

Yes you are a woman after my own heart! I also look at the guide books as there is always something or another to learn. The Star Child Tarot Akashic is so beautiful that I have bought it. I think that after seeing your review I'll get the book too.

Thanks for the suggestion about The Book of Tarot.... I feel similarly to you about the Starchild Tarot.... but it will be nice to read the book and see the images. I always learn from guidebooks... it’s fun to add little tidbits about cards that maybe I hadn’t considered before.... Oh dear I am going to call you Book enabler !!!!! I already have a precariously tall and wide to be read pile and several of these look really really interesting!!! I am currently reading Mindful Tarot by Lisa Tishman, The Buddha Tarot Companion book by Robert M Place, Balancing Your Temperament by Gilbert Childs, The Art and Practice of Geomancy by John Michael Greer Everyday Crystal Rituals by Naha Arnady among others!!!! Also a couple of fun mystery books for beach reading!!! Enjoyed this video so much!!!!

I love that you buy a book and not the deck, I completely agreed with you on the reasons why. I dont have either the starchild or moonchild. I need much more time to read books!!! I love your choices and how you use the goddess faces book with the moon phases, what a wonderful idea. Wow how did you read Weave the Liminal in a weekend???? boy I must be slow. haha . Please do feel free to add any you like onto my fb - I have a book list page. I loved this video, but all your vrs are really good. Thank you for the shout out to the bookclub...I can't wait to hear your input next Tuesday, hope to see you then my lovely Gxx

I'm almost through Tarot for the Elements and about half way through Weave the Liminal. I kind of got sidetracked with some health research and haven't quite made it back yet, but I've loved what I've read of both so far. The Seasonal Soul looks fabulous!! I wonder how it translates to Kindle? We're in a tiny apartment so I'm trying to buy digital as much as I can. Though the aesthetics of that one has me tempted by the print version! Thanks for sharing these!

I hope to start on Tarot Elements soon, I hear it's a good one! I haven't seen Seasonal Soul on Kindle, you might loose some of the details at a smaller size but I would think it would still be readable. It's a pretty nice tactile experience tho. 🙂 Thank you for watching!

Do you have a video with my info about how you’re developing your “witchy” identity?
@DawnMichelleTarot2 жыл бұрын
I don't because I don't really consider myself witch. I do have witchy elements to my practice, most of which have evolved from a time in my life when I was following a traditional witchy path. My spiritual or magical path is one that has just evolved over the years and I integrate things that I learn and experiences I have along the way. I guess you could call it more of a Magpie practice lol. I'm sorry I don't have anything more definitive to share!

I know I’m new but what does “pip style” mean?
@DawnMichelleTarot4 жыл бұрын
Pip style is when a deck doesn't have the a full scene illustrated in the minors. So Marseille style decks are considered pip decks because they just have the number of items on the suit card (3 cups, 4 swords, etc) and no scene depicted as we see in the majority of decks. Hope this helps! 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

A Witch Alone looks like such a beautiful book, but the reviews on GoodReads for that has been really harsh, so it's good to hear from someone else on its merits.
@DawnMichelleTarot5 жыл бұрын
It does have its share of critics for sure, I'm not sure how helpful it actually is for someone new to the practice but it's a beautiful read and there are some lovely tid-bits in there for more seasoned witches. There are much better beginner books out there for sure, but it's enjoyable to read. 😊 Thank you for watching!

Great video! Thanks for the recommendations! I think I will pick upp "Weave the Liminal" and have a recommendation for you in return; "Six Ways: approaches & entries for practical magic" by Aidan Wachter. I first heard him on an occult podcast (can't remember which one) and he made a lot of sense to me. Very down to earth and practical. As he says on page 11 in his book "My approach is this: what works, works. That which does not work, or whose costs outweigh their benefits, should be discarded or modified..." and "Magic and sorcery are ways of being in the world. They are ways of interacting and inter-being with the world itself and its visible and invisible structures and inhabitants, which all together I refer to as the Field." Using the concept of field makes it very inclusive. It's also less about the religious side, and more about foundational useful practices. I think anyone walking their own path would find this book useful.
