I totally get what you mean about new reader syndrome. I’ve always been a reader and picked up fantasy as a teenager. I enjoyed the War of Lost Hearts series. But I can’t compare books. I’ve been reading fantasy for 15+ years. I’m not the most critical reader but if I would have gone in comparing to TOG I would have been disappointed. The authors style of writing is interesting and moves quickly if you can get past the beginning. The second book felt like 3 books in one 😂 but overall it’s a solid fantasy romance.

Yea I’m sure it’s a solid series! I think I was definitely just in the wrong mindset so hopefully I’ll pick it up a different time and be able to get myself into it then!

I agree with you on the Daughter of No Worlds book. I read it and thought it was a 2.5/3 for me but I made an excuse for the pacing because it’s her debut novel and it was the first book in the series so I continued with the second. Now, the pacing doesn’t get any better with the second book and I felt like it got worst when the war actually starts. We kept bouncing around to different locations with no map and the author still never really explained what the magic system is. Plus she adds a third POV and more world building when I felt like even with a book and a half into this series the world building still isn’t fleshed out or even explained correctly. I firstly DNF’d it at around 48% of the second book after a week or two I tried to give it another chance but then again, DNF’d it around 78% and finally said I’m done with the series.

Yea I’ve seen a couple of complaints about what you said with the bad pacing and not great world building… it seems to me like people are making excuses for it and being like you gotta wait till then end and then it all comes togetther… but I disagree- I think it should have an even flow and build up on itself gradually instead of later in the series

I used to read Julia Quinn quite a lot when I started reading romance. My favorite book from her is The Viscount who loved me, there's a lot of funny scenes that had me cracking up, and by the way is part of the Bridgerton series. Thank you so much for the video, and for reminding me of Julia Quinn, I'm not reading much lately (lack of time), let alone rereading but I more likely going to break the rule and reread some of her books now that you reminded me of her existence...I saw you have a new dog? I'm on my way to watch the video prior to this one to ''meet'' him/her.

Hahah yup new dog!! I’m answering this comment backwards so I already know you saw the other video :)! But Julia Quinn is my sisters favorite author and she’s read all her books and I’m slowly going down the list… every time I see her she’s giving me another couple to read so I’ll eventually get to the Bridgerton series itself… but because it’s an adaptation already I’m kinda avoiding it cause I don’t loveee reading and watching or watching and then reading

You have convinced me to wait on trying Hail Mary. I like second chance, but I dislike miscommunication and 3rd act breakups. I also gave in to the hype and tried the Liz Tomforde books. I am the opposite of you. I gave Mile High 3 stars and Right Move 5 stars. I really liked the Right Move A LOT. I hope you give it another chance.

Haha that’s pretty funny. It blows my mind how people interpret and enjoy books in different ways. I can see why Mile high would be not as enjoyable for everyone though! I do hope to go back to the right move at s different time ❤️

Daughter of No Worlds was so DIFFICULT for me to finish. I was so sad about it because I really liked The Serpent and the Wings of Night by the same author. Daughter of No Worlds was so disappointing on so many levels.
