One of the perks of Book Reading is not always following the crowd. While I will always appreciate suggestions, not everything is for everyone.

I will NEVER read A Little Life. I am curious about The Cruel Prince because the reviews I see are so polarizing! Zodiac Academy… I have it downloaded on my kindle because I enjoy torturing myself I guess.

I listened to an interview with Yanagihara. Their attitude about their own work was concerning. She was totally devoid of emotion (or understanding for why someone would feel emotional) for these characters. To the point where she made fun of people crying. Very weird. On my never read pile as well!

I tried a chapter of the cruel prince and quickly DNF’ed it. I’m also not going to read a lot of these books, top of my list Mike High and Zodiac Academy

I also want nothing to do with A Little Life. I've just heard enough about it and opinions about it being basically kind of problematic trauma porn... and it sounds like something I would feel similarly about and not care for.

Saaaame someone else did say that it felt like trauma porn and that the author was pretty rude too

I really loved A Little Life. I sobbed while reading it and even had to take a few breaks. It’s emotional but very cathartic to cry about a fictional character’s problems rather than my own, in the sense that I’m crying and expressing emotions that aren’t directed at my own life. It’s 800 pages and the thing with really long novels like A Little Life you get attached to the characters and their backstories, and by the end you’re just rooting for the characters up until the very end… I still think about the characters and how heartbroken they were left at the end because their backstories were so intense and critical to character development. It does get graphic sometimes which is why some people don’t like it, but from the main character’s perspective, it is inevitably graphic and adds to the heartbreak in my opinion. I thought about my own life and the book spans over so many years so it was very emotional at the end

Good to know that the story and characters were actually worth it. I feel like no one really says much about it other than “I couldn’t stop crying”

I read the Cruel Prince and I wouldn’t say it’s a romance fantasy - i think a lot of readers hyperfixate on the romance part, but to me it was more political focused. 9 books?! I didn’t want to read Zodiac Academy bc it was so long, like 7 books and each book was like a few hundred pages. But 9?? Why does it need 9 books?
@BookmarkChronicles5 ай бұрын
Seriously??? The people lied to me but I’m not gonna ready Cruel Prince anyway lol RIGHT??? Why is it that long???

The one on your list that really bothers me and I will never read is the Haunting Adeline bs. I can’t imagine going into it blind and finding that it’s Q’ANON fanfic. As someone whose family has been f’d up by that 💩… -shudders- Also I like your short form content. It suits your calm demeanor, and I love how you’re always to the point. 🫶🏻💗

Zodiac Acadamy: I’ve read up to halfway through book 5 (with zero plans to keep reading!!!😂💀) Book 9 is the end of the series. There are a few novellas so there are a total of 12 if you count those. The zodiac does play into the story. I personally think the story was drawn out WAY TO FUCKING LONG and the authors didn’t need to add all the things they did.

I concur with your list and I add anything by Colleen Hoover and for now at least, Ali Hazelwood. I just don't think she's for me. Omg, I loved Natalie's Haunting Adeline video. I've just started watching her and she's covering a bunch of books I was morbidly curious about because I've heard such terrible things, but I would never waste my time reading them.
