There are some good indie authors on Kindle Unlimited who write dark romance. Stacey Marie Brown was my intro into the genre. She has several series. Alessa Thorn is another one. They do have paperback versions for most, some audiobooks, and available to purchase without the KU subscription. However, I highly recommend the KU sub because of the access to numerous romance subgenres and fantasy genres. For Alessa Thorn, "Darkest Night" is a great place to start.

After hearing only good things about the series, I started it and was immediately traumatized by it, I was horrified that I had to root for the guy. The novel made the sa look like a normal romance troupe that is normal. I was flabbergasted to see people online mourning the end of the series. I was already traumatized by dark romances because of Haunting Adelaide and only tried to give DR a second chance because of Butcher and Blackbird, but now I am never going back.

If you want a decent DR book, Lights Out is a better version of Butcher and Blackbird. The man has a complicated relationship with his morality and how it relates to his kinks, the woman is developed and consents to everything, and violence is portrayed with actual weight rather than just a joke or a kink. If you’re interested, Reads with Rachel did a video on it recently

"Moraly gray" is what she always describes her male characters to be like, but ?!?! The moment we romantisize SA (VERY different than CNC or potentially darker kink) or romantisize gaslighting a character with severed mental illness "to keep her mine" (God of War book), is just WILD

I like very controversial books that get people’s panties twisted BUT authors like Rina Kent value pumping out books fast and spending less time focusing on their prose and spending longer time on their manuscripts. So I can not thank you enough for actually reading this for your followers so they don't have to suffer. Finally I've met a sane reader :) I think we should stop calling this genre dark romance and start calling it "Twisted PR" and I totally agree with you, this can't be written by an ordinary writer; it's either a troubled young person or anonymous ghost writers. Some of the best romances I’ve read and experienced IRL are the sweeter kinds, not the darker aspects. Edit: This is a horror novel. I got four minutes in, had to back it up, replay it TWICE, tell my husband about it, take a breath, and come back bc WHAT IS THAT. Some people really do just want to watch the world burn.

Okay, this is *not* the thing to be focusing on, but I'm pretty sure they've gotta get through a hymen to place an IUD. Is it too much to ask for some common sense continuity in these garbage "dark romance" trash heap dumpster fire messes?

Wait I didn’t even think of that hahahah. That is SUCH a good point. Woof, this book 😵💫

To me they are either fantastic or an abomination and nothing in between. It’s like a fun gamble. Will have a fun time or will I want to dive head first into traffic 😊 💕

When i was seeing people loving it and eating it up i was like it must be good dark romance but i was so wrong ofcourse everybody have freedom what they wanna read and enjoy but i wanna tell you if you are enjoying and thinking anything happening in this book right damn yoi need therapy and health checkup. When i was reading god of malice damn i was like cursing nonstop and feeling disgusted whole time he is manipulator and mentally unstable infact all characters are . Female characters are made just for entertainment no any character deepness, self respect for them and their body . And one thing that icks me much more how they were talking during having sex or basically the guy was rapping her....be was insulting her too and make her feel like shit while all and the girls are enjoying it up . Some twisted shit is this . Ofcourse you can read this much dark book but don't buy paper bags or hardcover shit for it read it online....as its waste of money and the whole plot is sex behind that you can't remember anything. Its a fantasy of sex just in sugarcoated way in different scenarios. The whole boom experience for me was bad like i was getting embarassed for them .

Literally the biggest crime was that despite all the shocking content it was so boring!! What even was the plot besides trauma and having sec w the worst man in the world? I honestly barely remember. It was one weird messed up blur

100% believe if these authors who write this trash was put in the place of the main character…then they would never write or thought of writing the shit they do

And if you read only red letters, it says oii! Which is the only redeemable quality of this dumpster find.

I’m writing a dark romance that has zero indication nor mention of SA just to get a point across within the community. Tired of glorified SA.

leaving a comment for the algorythm, and to make up for noping out at 12 mins in... That's a little too much assault for me to listen to, even in retelling. Jikes, count me out of the target demographic of this book.
