I'm so happy when Amal mention 'Where Rainbows End' cause it's my forever favorite title! Been rereading that for more than 5 times and still loving it each time. The movie adaptation is good too! 💕

I'm a lot like Amal! I tend to lean towards fiction more, and I struggled slightly with my preferences in high school because thats when people started reading more serious books, books that you know, was inspiring and uplifting, and I really tried reading them, even finished a few, but I realise its not where my heart is. I grew up reading just about any books I can find, but it took me a while to realize my favourites are always the ones with love in it. I'd pick Harry Potter / Jane Eyre back up and re-read those few scarce swoony moment which was very defining for me. I finally pinpointed my genre, and if there is a love story, qurl I am there. I love romance, and I wish more people, especially in our Malaysian community would stop turning their nose up to it! Sure, it's not most people's cup of tea but it doesnt make it any less insignificant than any other genres. It especially saddens me when some girls ridicule this genre because here you have this billion dollar industry, mainly made for girls, run by girls, and we're there belittling this amazing energy of girl power.

Didn’t really favor Tuesdays with Morrie either. But the best one from Mitch Albom is always The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto !!! Unputdownable and i got hard times to move on to another book bcs im afraid it would not be as good as Frankie Presto 😂😂😂😂😂

The Pendragon Series by DJ Machale (10 books) The Summoner Series by Taran Matharu (3 books) I Am Number Four Series!! (I forgot how many books but it’s still on going) Divergent series (3 books) - better than the movies The Hunger Games Series (3 books) - better than the movies The Night Angels Trilogy by Brent Weeks (3 books) (actually many more!) Amal, just wanna say this. We have a very common interest on the type of book. I like fictions more than self help kind of books. I actually don’t read non-fiction except for the one that I remember which is Reclaim Your Heart. And WHERE RAINBOWS END is one of my all time fav! The movie kind of did not do the justice lol. And I have quite a few books from Cecelia Ahern. (I pronounce it as Ay-hern haha). I think it started with where rainbows end. Idk i can’t remember. And like Amal, when I was younger, I picked up most of my elder sister's books. But not my brother's because his taste is just different than mine. Like until now, he reads those heavy Lord of The Rings kind of books (I can tell by the book covers lol). So there are a few series book that I read when I was younger. But my sister or more specifically our dad didn't buy all of the series for the reason I don't know of. Maybe because my sister was growing up and just stopped asking for the book series. The books are: 1. Animorphs!!! 2. Sweet Valley High I used to read *Nancy Drew*. Not from my sister. For a phase, I liked it because I got all detective vibe. But then I grew out of it. It's kind of a dark book series too, because it's all mysterious. But I THINK before I knew these series, I read Enid Blyton's books too! To me, they are very educational books to improve your English. And from there, you start reading other books. And I didn't know it's a SHE until you mentioned her, Iman. Guys, I just remembered that I used to LOVE to rate books on Myspace or Friendster! Maybe Facebook even. Like I feel the need to tell people this book is good and such. And maybe I picked that up from primary school, doing the Nilam programme.

Love this topic, its very personal to me as someone who reads a lot and grew up with reading, and for those who wanna get into reading again i would suggest you to join a book club/community, we have KLBAC (on facebook) and MyBibliomaniacs & Bookends (on Twitter) all actively sharing love towards reading diversely. The community are very welcoming and they held bookish activities and events from time to time. And i would like to suggest a new book recently published by an international publisher, title The Weight Of Our Sky, written by Hanna Alkaf (a malaysian hijabi) and whats more interesting is the book is a Young Adult Historical fiction that sets during 13 May 1969 Race Riots Incident. Lets support our local author guys! :D
