I've been a fan of Sanderson since 2006. He's been my favorite author since. I don't recommend startingn with the Stormlight Archives. For one, the series isn't finished. It's a ten book series, of which only 3 have been published. Unlike Mistborn, which the first trilogy is finished and the second series is almost finished. Plus, Stormlight is like Brandon's best work, and it's huge, it's like skipping appetizers and going straight for the main course.

Wonders of the Invisible World by Christopher Barzak constantly keeps you guessing about what exactly is going on. Plus it's my favourite book ever, so I definitely recommend that. Then there's the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy. The amount of massive plot twists in this series is absolutely insane. They're marketed as children's books, but in my opinion the later books get too dark, twisted and brutal to belong in the children's section. There are currently 13 books and a short collection. The first ten books, plus the short stories, make up one complete story, and the latest two books are the start of a new arc set a few years after the end of the first series. The books are: Skulduggery Pleasant (titled The Scepter of the Ancients in the USA) Playing With Fire The Faceless Ones Dark Days Mortal Coil Death Bringer Kingdom of the Wicked Tanith Low and the Maleficent Seven (Not marketed as part of the series, but is essential to understanding the plot) Last Stand of Dead Men Armageddon Outta Here (The short story collection) The Dying of the Light Resurrection Midnight
