For my SIX The Musical Fans out there, I would definitely recommend the Tudor Queens series by Alison Weir. There is a book for each of the six wives, and each book goes through the life of each queen, but not in a documentary type way, it's in a story form, but it is historically correct. I encourage you to take a look :)

I read When the Curtain Falls a few months ago and I loved it. Being a theatre kid myself I've missed theatre since it had to shut but by reading your book it made me realise quite how much I missed it, how amazing theatre is and how much I can't wait to be back. I loved it so much that I gifted a copy of it to my English teacher when I left school last week because I've finished year 11 as a thankyou to her for letting me express myself and find my try passions: books and theatre

Really glad your back Carrie and with another book video! I love hearing you talk about the things you've read. Wise Children (and Angela Carter in general) is great. The book started my Shakespeare reading challenge where I read one of his plays a month alongside an adaptation or inspiration for it. Wise Children could fit anything, but I read it with A Midsummer Night's Dream. I'll look forward to your next video!

Hey Carrie! Thank you so much fo1r this! I used to read alot when I was younger (I'm only 17 rn so I'm talking 10-15yo) but I kinda of ran out of things that I enjoy and started to grow an addiction to video games (Ive got a horrid case of ADHD and people with ADD/ADHD are already 10x more prone to addictions, soooo, yeah fuck me lol) that has since been wreaking havoc on my life with theater being the only I really have the motivation to do (this includes HS hw which I barely turned in at all this year), so this may just be the godsend that I have needed so desperately these last couple of years. THANK YOU! PS. Also tbh your content helped bring me out of a really dark place throughout these last two year (lost my dad in 2019 to heart failure, then all my friends were gone if only for a while it still felt like it was permanent). You've been a huge inspiration for me, and honestly the gratitude that I feel towards you is kind of indescribable, I don't know exactly how to put it into words... Your joy, your vibrance, your enthusiastic yet down to Earth nature gave me hope, and joy, and maybe even a bit of enthusiasm for life that I honestly didn't think I would feel again after my dad passed, something that was then reinforced with the pandemic, but your strength gave me strength or at the very least helped me bring out my inner strength once more and for that I am eternally grateful.

I'd also recommend the Court of Miracles by Kester Grant a kind of Les Mis and Hunchback hybrid retelling, its fantasy and the story is told from Eponine's perspective and her journey into the Guild of Thieves.

Have you read the Playmaker series? It's historical fiction about Shakespeare's acting troupe set in London. It's kind of cheesily written, but I love the vibe of both the stories, and they are both mysteries. It might be cool to read as someone who actually does theater shows in London.
