i'm a twin myself, and i am very grateful for my mom explicitly choosing names that are VERY different. when you're a twin (especially identical like us) people usually view you as a set and your individuality just doesn't exist. it was so weird, but people usually assumed what the other child's name was based upon the one they learned first, which always felt presumptuous and awkward. when they found out our names were very different, it really felt like they saw us as two individuals, and it was comparatively much less uncomfortable/confusing than the pair of twins we went to high school with...one of them grew so annoyed with it that she went by her middle name only just so people would stop associating her with her twin as a matching set, even though they were totally different people. the two of you are very good about meeting rupert where he's at as a human, and as a twin growing up it really does mean the world for our individuality and separation of identity to be supported and reinforced by at least one person in our lives (like our parents and siblings), because the world around us tends not to!

LOL! I loved this video. The laughter was absolutely contagious. My best friend's daughter is a Wilhelmina, and Mina for short. She's named after the main female character from Dracula. I like more classic names as well. I love Emmaline (Emma or Lina for short), Adelaide (Ada or Adele for short), Eliza (Lizzy/Lizzie), and Charlotte (Charley or Lottie for short) for girls. Nathaniel (Nate/Nathan), Milo, Theodore (Theo), Edmund (Eddie), and if you want something to go with Atticus, Ulysses (Uly for short) could be cute, but it's a heck of a name to saddle a baby with. Best of luck naming the babies!

i really like the name Wilhelmina. In the shadowhunter books, there is a warlock called Tessa and her first and second husbands were best friends and parabatai, but one became immortal and the other stayed mortal. Tess is immortal too, so it's tricky. Her and Will named their first child 'James' after Jem Carstairs, and, a century later, Jem and Tessa named their daughter 'Wilhelmina' for her English name, after Will Heronadale. sorry for the rant, shadowhunters is my special interest! also, some twins names really are very strange. in shadowhunters there are a pair of adopted siblings called 'Jonathan Christopher' and 'Jonathan Christopher'. Thank god for nicknames. there are also 2 Christopher 'Kit' Jonathans.

My daughter's name is Amelia. My family calls her, Mia. It means a hardworking and strong character. If it's a boy, Kane (little battler) or Luke (light giving)

Amelia is such a pretty name, and there are so many potential nicknames for it! Mia, like you mentioned, but also Amy, mel, lia - melly? You can really get creative ahah.

Percy Shelley, as in Mary Shelley was married to him the writer of Frankenstein husband he was a poet. Sir Percival was one of the nights of the round table. I believe it was something in Arthurian legend

I like it when sibiling names go well together (e.g. the lenght, the sound, or the feeling of timlessness etc.) but far more important is that they don't sound too similar at the end part of the name, because that can cause confusion which child is meant when you call them 😅 And I find it sooo great that you directly think about potential nicknames, too❤

I really love the Name Rupert for your first, but as an American, it definitely reads as very very British name ;P Currently pregnant with number 3 and Sybil/Sibyl is on my short list for a girl!

I’m Irish and I agree it’s very English. In fact I’ve never heard of an Irish Rupert. It also sounds very posh!

Just make sure the names don't sound too similar! My sister and I are identical twins, and our names are basically the reverse of the other (A-B and B-A) so EVERYONE mixes us up and it's incredibly annoying :/

I'm an identical twin & me and my twin sister have very different names. it's already dehumanizing being treated like we're conjoined our whole lives, but i couldn't imagine that + the struggle of having similar names. the identity crisis is already bad enough lol. it means the whole world to me when my individuality is reinforced. the other day an old lady stopped and asked us if we were twins, when I said yes, she went on a tangent about how us being twins doesn't mean we're the same person, that we only look similar. she told us to never let anyone dehumanize us. I went to the bathroom and tried not to cry, it meant so, so much. it's refreshing to see you guys don't agree with rhyming names, and i'm sure you'll both be great mothers.

I know lots of people want to come up with uncommon names for their children, but I love having a popular name. It’s fun when someone introduces themselves as “Jennifer” and I can say “Me too!” I grew up with 2 other Jennifer’s in class with me. We never got tired of asking “Which one?” whenever any of us heard our name. (I don’t know how much the teacher or the rest of the class found it amusing, but oh well.)

My favourite baby name I've ever heard (which anyone can steal because I can't have kids.) Is Avery, and Emerson. I can't remember of the top of my head what Emerson means, but Avery means elf king, in I believe French, if I am correct.
@Accentline11457 сағат бұрын
Congrats and good luck with the naming! Now all I can think for is the book Flowers for Algernon... I haven't heard that name in years. For the twins you could go with a theme for the names without them being rhyming. Like Heather and Violet are both girl names and flowers. Obliviously doesn't have to be those names, but once to decide on one name, it could help with brainstorming for a second name. Also your son is Rupert, so you could choose a S and a T name for the twins.

Atticus would be very popular as one of the best novels ever written, is about a family with the father, a lawyer, named Atticus. Not used much in the US (though Scout, the nick name of one of the children) is used. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is admired greatly and Atticus is the true hero.

I went to school with a girl called Ariadne, and it's always stuck with me as one of those typically pretentious British names.
I feel like you could plunder Gilbert & Sullivan operettas for names you might like to consider. They have names like Marmaduke, Mabel, Josephine, Frederick, Reginald, Patience, Aline, Iolanthe, etc.

I recall Jessica having a favourite flower. So, if the same is true for Claudia, a name for each child that's related to a favourite flower would work for the twin. 🙂

This was funny as usual, old names are in fashion again. How about, Violet, Iris, Olive, Dorothy, Florence, Maude or Emma, Victoria. Boys names, Henry, James, jasper, Edmund, Edward. Any good?❤
