Now That We're A Family

Now That We're A Family

Күн бұрын

We are back with another book video! We both love to read! We loved to read before we were married and feel that it is something that has been revived with having children as we have started to cultivate a love of reading in our children. Today we are going to talk about the books we have read in quarter one of 2023.
In the evenings before we go to bed, when Katie takes the children to the park, and during our 24 hour sabbath are the main times we find to read as parents. Incorporating the 24 hour sabbath in our lives has upped Elisha’s reading game more than any other thing in our life. Having no internet or distractions and it being a designated time of rest has allowed Elisha to read a whole book almost every Sabbath this year. We also read during our miracle mornings each day. Elisha is also part of a book club.
What we love about reading books as a couple, is that even though we haven’t read all the books the other person read, they bring up a lot of new, fresh conversation when we go on a date night or when Elisha comes home from work. Sometimes when you have been married for a long time, you can find yourselves in circular forms of conversation. We feel like books breath new inspiration and discussion into our home.

You guys have inspired me to read a lot more and turn on the tv at night. It’s fun how each of the books I complete now feel like this wonderful accomplishment! Please keep doing these. I absolutely love them because your standards are so close to mine for picking books and I feel like I can’t get that from a lot of places because the world’s standard for books are things I cannot read with conviction. Thanks y’all!

Keep the book reviews coming! I love watching them and seeing what interesting things you guys have been reading. I watched one where you guys talked about some books you liked for the kids and we already got a bunch from the library. Love the ideas! Thank youb❤🎉

I always pronounced it mar-ner. Purely because the first place I heard it was on Focus on the Family’s radio theater and that’s how they pronounced it. Beautiful story.

It's KaramAzov, Brothers KaramAzov :), I'm from Belarus originally and speak Russian as my first language, my husband is English and we live in Scotland with our two kids 8 and 2! Very interesting reviews, thank you for sharing! ☺ Dostoevsky himself is a very interesting man, Christian and very intelligent, although I only went through Crime and Punishment so far as there was a moment where he described cruelty to this horse and I was in tears as I love animals and never finished the book. I feel like going back and reading it now I'm older. Thank you! 💕

I absolutely love your videos, they always uplift and inspire me as I do some naptime chores on Thursdays! The only bit of constructive criticism I have is that the intro is a little long. The music is beautiful but as I never sit down and watch the videos, I only listen, it gets a little long. Love you guys, keep up the awesome work!

I LOVE how intentional you are in raising your family! I am a new grandmother, and I send your videos to my kids. Have you seen Lamplighter books? I think you would love the beauty, the wisdom, and stories of these old books that have been given new life. Pray that your families roots grow deep to withstand this world.

Yay!!! I’m so happy for more book videos from you guys!! The story of Cupid and Psyche is also the myth that Beauty and the Beast evolved from… CS Lewis’s version is very much about our fallen natures, human selfishness, and our inability to experience divine love… perhaps re-read St Paul’s Letter to the Romans with it in mind and see if you get any more out of it!

Can I just give some book suggestions to help you embrace your inner-child? 1)The Wingfeather Saga by Andrew Peterson 2)The Green Ember seriese by S. D. Smith My husband and I have read these seriese with our older 2 kids (ages 13 and 11) and they are amazing if you are looking for an adventure, like going to Narnia or Middle Earth.

Your book recommendation videos are my favorite. I’m so grateful you take the time to share! The ones you feel hold value, I often agree. I will skip 1984, it’s been on my list since 2020 😂

This was so informative but you all make me laugh because you rarely show the cover of the book to your audience! The whole time I'm dying for a glimpse of the cover ha! It's a great way to pique interest. But not satisfy it.

If you want a more biblical perspective on the sexual revolution, gender issues, and even abortion and euthanasia I would recommend Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcy. It was very good.
