Hi there guys, my husband and I just found you a few weeks ago and have been loving your videos. It is so encouraging and refreshing to see the male and female Godly perspective on a lot of your topics and so we wanted to request a video on how you guys talk to your boys about purity. The fact that your kids being so YOUNG were able to open up to you guys about how they either looked away quickly or looked for a little longer when they saw those girls with little clothes was just so beautiful to us. We would love to hear how you guys plant that seed on them and present those subjects to them in this time where promiscuity is found EVERYWHERE! We would love to hear how your husband specifically is able to relate to them in that sense as well as how you play a role as their mother on relating to them afar from displaying modesty in your own home.

Books that deeply challenged me this year: Bruchko by Bruce Olson (19 year old missionary to indigenous tribe in Columbia), the Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom (WWII Holland), and Gladys Aylward autobiography (British missionary woman to unreached villages in China). Next on my list: Kisses for Katie (18 year old from Nashville becomes adoptive mother to 13 girls in Uganda).

Thanks so much for these reckos! I’m so appreciative of your guys content as a Christian planning our lives ahead with my husband here in London England! Gentle and Lowly has been such a fave of mine for so long (I think I saw it on your list of reckos though wherever you keep your book list!) super helpful for someone much further back in our journey but up for doing things differently to our peers in the UK if we think we have found something better for everyone. As a math teacher my must read is definitely How I Wish I’d Taught Maths from Craig Barton. At 535 pages it is quite a read, but it’s so worth it. Barton combines research with his own classroom experience. I don’t know to what capacity his insights are also useful for homeschooling, but he definitely changed the way in which I teach.

Regarding Dracula, if you're ever up for it, watching the old black and white movies is super fun. I watched Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. in the old black and white versions with my grandparents as a kid and it is still a favorite memory of mine. There is just something about those old classic films that is so different and special from modern cinema.

MUST READ ALERT: To Train Up a Child Such an excellent book on child training!! This book has changed my parenting. Im remaining calm and giving a consequence the first time every time and staying consistent and my kids are learning to obey the first time. I'm being the mama I want to be and I feel like my relationship with my kids is even better than before. This book is right up your alley, if you haven't already read it. Excellent bibical basis and helps parents understand the heart implications. I can't recommend it enough. I'm not even halfway through yet, but im confident the rest will still be amazing. Bonus, its short and for me its been such an easy read! I just dont have much time to read, so its been taking me awhile

Katie was spot on about "Heart of Darkness"! I was an English major in college and had to read that book and "decipher" its meaning. So yes, it is a high school or college read. It was so dense that I found it challenging, speaking as someone who has read literature from many different time frames! Thank you for doing this video! I really believe that all Christians should be readers :)

Two of my favorite “oldie, but goodie” fiction books are Laddie and Michael O’Halleran, both by Gene Stratton-Porter. So many powerful life lessons through her stories! A newer one I loved is I’ve Seen the End of You by W. Lee Warren One that hugely impacted the way I thought (I read it as a teen) was In the Shadow of Plenty by George Grant.

A book I recently read that made me feel shocked and shaken up is 'The Making of Biblical Womanhood'. Made me rethink and rediscuss the whole foundation of our marriage and my (F) self-image, can highly recommend if you want a broader, longer historical view (specifically 9th-15th century) on christian womanhood! I don't agree with all of her conclusions, but highly appreciate the broadened view and re-evaluation that it brought.

Hi guys, I watched this video a couple weeks ago but didn't write a comment. However, it bothered me so much that I didn't recommend to you two very important, life-changing books. I found myself even thinking about it while in bed. So I figured God was telling me, it's necessary to go back to the video and recommend the books. They are Education and Child Guidance. The author is Ellen White, she is the most translated American author of all time. In the words of Paul Harvey (who was a big fan of her writings, just like Dr. James Dobson and others): “Ellen G. White. Don't know her? Get to know her.” I pray these books are as transformative to you as they've been to me. God bless!

Ishmael and Self-Raised by E.D.E.N. Southworth, from Lamplighter Publishing, as well as The Secret Bridge by Amy Le Feuvre. Ishmael and the sequel, Self-Raised, were excellent stories of perseverance, mercy and second chances, and how we can be resolved to do the right thing at all costs. The Secret Bridge gives an excellent recipe for growing in Christ step by step, precept upon precept, with many scripture references throughout, and all the while telling an excellent, fictional tale with mystery and intrigue.

Easton Press has a couple of subscription options that offer reduced pricing, but is not exclusively a subscription service. They produce very high quality printing (leather with 22k gold inlay) and offer many signed collectors editions with beautiful illustrations. The primary draw (speaking for myself) is that when I see them on my shelf I feel significantly wealthier and more sophisticated than I actually am. Goodness knows what might happen if I actually took one down and read it!
