I really love videos where people read books that haven't taken off. Makes them so much more interesting because we're seeing books we haven't seen people read.

So happy you enjoyed Knock Knock, Open Wide! I read it last year (for your buzzword challenge in December) and it ended up being one of my favorite books of the year! I’m a bookseller and I immediately had to write up a recommendation because it definitely hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves

There was a real Irish kids TV show in the 80s called bosco about a puppet in a box. It also had a feature where they went through a magic door but first they knocked and recited a poem that started with the line “knock knock open wide see what’s on the other side”. From your description sounds like it’s a clear reference to that.

I'm so behind on this because I wanted to wait until I finished Knock Knock and I thiiiiink it's my favorite of the year so far! I was checking out his Instagram and according to that it's not a debut (the first one is called When the Sparrow Falls from 2021 but I don't think was done with Nightfire) and this didn't get an audiobook because nobody got the audio for his first one. Hoping this one gets one eventually because I would also love to do a reread with it, and that his next one coming out in 2025 gets one with the book release!

I read Knock Knock, Open Wide last year and absolutely enjoyed it. I rated it 4 stars but think that, on a re-read, I could easily bump it up to a 5. I just need to re-experience it to fully grasp the whole experience. Relating it to T.Kingfisher makes sense because I really enjoy her horror vibes.

when you were describing the plot of House Woman it reminded be strangely of the Queen Charlottle Bridgerton story/show!! i know a weird comparison but equal themes of forced marriage, he has blackouts and strange episodes and his mother is obsessed with getting an heir..

I was introduced to her by her book Forbidden Promises but I think I enjoyed her newer one Summoning Love more (paranormal investigator love interest & I love paranormal shows so that may be why). Heads up I never give her more than a 4 star but I'm never looking for stellar book from her or steamy scenes just cozy romance. But if you're looking for a dope Black author that can write small towns/neighborhoods and good everything/romance, I will always recommend Christina C. Jones. She has a large catalogue so there's something for everyone. But good luck in giving Synithia another try!

I have a video idea for you! I am doing a reading challenge at my library this year and I'm supposed to read from multiple genres, such as romance, fantasy, dystopian fiction, etc. The issue is I am literally ONLY a thriller reader. I haven't picked up a different genre in many years and I am just SO certain I won't enjoy anything else. I would love to hear your recommendations for "If you are a thriller reader looking to branch out, try 'these' romance books, and 'these' fantasy books", etc. Maybe a romance with a twist? 🤣🤣
