I recommend the Six Stories series by Matt Wesolowski. It follows a podcast series (each book is a new series) where the main character investigates a cold case, I've only just finished the third book and the second was a little disappointing compared to books one and three but I'm desperate to carry on. The books all work as stand alones I think but do reference events from previous books

Aaaah, I LOVE this! I did the whole “reading Booktubers’ favorite books of 2020” thing at the beginning of the year aaaaannnnd it didn’t go well for me. I wish I’d been watching your channel then because I’ve since read The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter and liked it much more than any of the other Booktubers’ books I read. I live in the US and trials are the same here. The jury is sequestered during the trial and is not allowed to speak to the press (and possibly even their families…?). I’m not clear on the full extent of that, but they definitely could not be interviewed during the trial.
