I bought this book back in 2005 when I was 12 during a school book fair and I still have it on my bookshelf today. I have some great memories of going through it with my friends crowding around it, and treating each page like it was made of glass because I was keenly aware of how delicate the foldables were (which are all still almost perfectly intact aside from a scuff mark on the spellbook case on the final spread and a 1mm tear in the envelope containing the fairy flag). I also found it interesting that the fairy flag in your copy of the book is yellow and red but mine is entirely yellow. I actually came to this video looking for the coded message. I solved it anyway for those who might be interested. -- The symbols in the margins spell the message "Read the spell in Harpier's Book and make the magic work." -- Harpier's Book (missing from the book in the video) has a symbol on each page that reads "Hoot and shout, owl is about" Since the tiny spellbook was missing from the video, I thought I'd add that it contains a collection of phrases that you're supposed to open at random in a similar style to a Magic 8 Ball such as "Forget the whole thing", "Tomorrow may bring you an answer", "I will not answer questions like that!" Thanks for sharing, this was a fun nostalgia dive.

The commentary on this video is incredibly entertaining. I had been thinking about this book for weeks and weeks but couldn’t remember the name until a rabbit hole into eBay led me to seeing the cover and remembering the title so I could look it up on KZbin. Thank you so much for making this video I was afraid there wouldn’t be a video on the book

Thank you for watching! I’ve been re-buying and searching for lost books, so I know the feeling of having a book on your mind! I’m glad you enjoyed it.

There seems to be two wizardologies, one is Merlin and one is a guide about all wizards. Are they the same just different print?

They may be, or it may be a guide version of this. I remember the Dragonology book having a later “guide” version with more info written from a researcher perspective. Maybe this one also had it? I haven’t been able to locate it online if so.
