Those introductions to the Lady Susan movie both startled and amused me. Lol their faces were so dramatic and over the top it was silly. Could you imagine if that description was put on the tutor's tombstone though. XD It Beloved tutor to Lord and Lady so-so and known as a 'rattler.'"

Oh no! I love the absurd British humor of Douglas Adams! The Hitchhiker’Guide actually is a series of 5. I love them all. The third one So Long and Thanks For All The Fish is the best of them all. Also, off topic, but I love that nail color!

The writing in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a transcript of the original radio play. Written down it didn't work for me, but the play did work (not an audio book, but an actual full cast play, including sounds, just without the stage). You can actuallly legally download it for free (at least I could when I looked it up), the files aren't that big either. I believe it was made by the BBC, but don't quote me on it. Also: I loved the look on your face with those dramatic sounds

Oh that's good to know! I might look into it! I need to explain myself better in the next vlog but I didn't fully hate it. Some of the humour I liked a lot but it was too absurd and the good parts (basically the last bit) was too short and it felt like the good stuff had just started... :/

BookswithEmilyFox it's a five book series and the first four is what originally was the radio play. The fifth one was written later to give the ending a more positive note.

I did like some of the jokes but overall it was too absurd for me... I'll definitely give a more detailed review in my monthly wrap up! I've been so busy that I feel rushed when vlogging... weekends are less stressful than the week! 😂

Disappointed you didn't like the Guide, It's my all time favourite series I love it so much. The universe is so rich and expansive, the wit is genius and you can tell that Adams has an amazing mind. But I do agree that it's not for everyone.

I'm finally participating as well, it had never seemed to work out for me until now xD I'm a bit behind so far, I finished "Half of a Yellow Sun" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (400+ pages) and "The Time Machine" by H.G.Wells and I really liked both of them! I completely agree with you on "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy" ... I really hoped to love it but ended up DNFing it a few months ago because it just wasn't my kind of book. I struggled with it quite a bit :/ But I'm really really excited for you to read "The Secret Life of Bees" It is one of my favourite books and the movie I think is equally good, with Dakota Fanning playing the little girl and fitting the role perfectly! Hope you enjoy the rest of the readathon! ^^

Hey Emily. How are you doing? Good luck and best wishes on you doing this readathon. I would personally not be able to do that, because I am such a slow reader/listener. I applaud you for doing it though. I am currently right in the middle of reading/listening to the third Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and I am on chapter 4 out of 12 in the massage therapy textbook called the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook which comes with about 45 multiple choice questions and an online test that I have to take afterwards. I am reading/listening to that one on my Kindle Fire via the text to speech feature. Also, when I have time, I have been reading the book China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan, which is the second book in the Crazy Rich Asians series. That, by the way, is really fun. I am sorry to hear that you did not like the Douglas Adams book, I found the audio version of that to be pretty funny but I know that the humor is very dry so it is not for everyone. Good luck with your other books and happy reading.

I read H2G2 in high school and really liked it. I also read the whole series and it definitely does NOT get better as you go. I get why it’s classic but the nonsense humor gets away from it at points.

I’m not participating in this readathon since I did read the 24 in 48. That one burnt me out and my kids were great that whole weekend, letting me read. I didn’t think I should do that again so soon. I have “read” the first 4 in the Hitchhikers series this year, but I didn’t care for it much. The only way I managed to get through it, was by audio. Otherwise I kept nodding off. I found the audiobooks for the series on KZbin. Does your library support Hoopla or Overdrive? That’s where I get at least 60% of the audios I listen to.

Read Douglas in your 1st language if you can. Does not matter how good in english you are, this is a best advice i can give. Helped me a lot. Now I love the pentalogy/trilogy 🤙😁
