Welcome! Nice to have a fellow Australian - I'm naturalised, though 🇧🇷. 😉 Nothing against the younger demographic, but I am always trying to find more mature readers like me, with similar tastes. So I am so happy to find you! Like you, literary fiction and historical fiction are my favourite genres, followed by mystery/thrillers. I also only collect books that I can eventually re-read or special editions. I love Jane Austen (I've read all her novels more than once) and collect other works related to, such as retellings. Now I'm off to check your other videos. Seja bem-vinda!😊

Hi Angela! Yay, a fellow Aussie! I had the same goals a few years ago to read the Jane Austen novels. Two things got me going, and they were - firstly, the audiobook versions, so I can listen while doing something else, but also joining in on Jane Austen July hosted by Katie Lumsden from Books and Things on Book Tube, she also has a lot of videos just on Jane Austen in general. This gave me the impetus to stick with reading a Jane Austen, I’ve now worked through all of them except Sanditon, which I’ll pick up this year. I’m excited because now I can begin on my collection of spin offs and retellings because I’ve read the originals and I feel I won’t get spoilers now. Actually, I have Katie to thank for the fact that I now have read most twice.

Hi and thanks for commenting! Yes this is a fantastic way to read older novels - I did it with Wuthering Heights a few years ago and A Christmas Carol too. Really helps with the cadence of these books - I'll have to try it again with Jane Austen :)

How does this world require us to be? to pace the shopping aisles like its monk. Or are we meant to walk the woods for free? and stay alert in case there’s unicorns. Let’s kneel the shore and see someone we knew! Our sweet reflections waiting on the lake; translucent smiles shivering with clues to say “the unicorns have gone this way.” The city’s void of traffic slurs our name, but our reflections never had to speak. No dollars can our blue reflections take. They in their bank of lily pads are rich because they art we knowing something strange, and smiling they know ourselves remain. i am Nicholas Leonard, and this is a sonnet that I wrote

@@AngelasBookcaseNot at all! As long as the content is relevant, I much prefer videos where my heart doesn't start racing from the number of words per minute ^^ I think it was in another video of yours where there was a few clips of going to a pool, I would rather those were shorter than the speed of speech higher, if that makes sense. Definitely keep them in, to set the scene, loved that (and a lot of booktubers onlu show one single shot, so well done), but maybe keep that kind of thing a bit snappier to keep the momentum and get to the good stuff, meaning the books :D And please take this as only friendly advice from a well-wisher, and only take it to heart if you feel like it has merit. I haven't realized my channel dreams yet, so I'm so impressed with anyone who actually publishes a video!

Welcome to BookTube. Yes reading enough is also a challenge for me as I don’t read that fast (read slow lol). But I haven’t had any problems with that just yet and I post three videos a week. Not all have to be book reviews. I also want to read Frankenstein sometime soon. Farrah over at Bookstalgic is also going to read it sometime soon. She mentioned February or March. So I’m waiting for her to start reading Frankenstein. Which version do you want to read? I’m planning to read both the original version and the rewritten version. Shelley did rewrite it herself.

Good day. Over the years it's been a challenge talking books with people I know since they read less or not at all. Listening to you made me think that books are friends who know us better than we understand them, which is another reason the physicality of book is important to me. You live in Australia? You are likely familiar with Patrick White's Voss and essayist Clive James? Excellent authors. And when it comes to popular music, I must mention INXS, Dido, and the great Nick Cave... favorites too.
