I've been using the SP12/1200 since 1990 then went over to the mpc 60II after that the 3000 but this is the first time I heard another machine come close to that Real SP Flava glad I added a MV 8800 back to my setup a few months ago .

I personally like how he made the beat on the SP 1200 with this sample but just this machine is the best I've been rolling with the MV 8800 for 15 years and still learning tricks

This machine was so ahead of it's time that it's crazy. It basically had all of the features 14 years ago that we're still crying for in many modern machines. Slow load times compared to today's standards, but the features are out of this world. So awesome that you have one. Hope you're enjoying it :)

Sounds great! I replaced MPC in 2009 with MV 8800 and never went back. This machine was ahead of its time, i think the effects are still very good. Many people have dissed it's sequencer, maybe because it works a little different than MPCs, but once you learn it, you can get it to swing like SP1200. I sometimes use double-locking technique, that has two different quantize settings to your track. One is recording quantize, and you can use it with lower ppq (as in sp1200) and you can determine how strong the quantize influence is, so it's very broad when you can go with that. Another setting is track quantize. If you want somewhere SP1200 swing, you can try to use these two settings together, recording quantize at low ppq and influence somewhere around 20-50% and track quantize somewhere around 70% and swing settings 60-70%. Normally i don't use quantize at all with MV8800, but when i use, i use the double-locking technique. You can hear that quantize setting it my beat Maramice - Gentle Light kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWfIfICChLaCfpo. I just think i need to buy another one somewhere, because i have used it so much that it is broken so many ways, i can still use it, but still. I don't think i have had any other sampler or drum machine this long. I have had three MPCs, SP1200 and S1000 and S3000, but only ones left to this day is MV8800 and Machine MK3.

NOOOICE!😎 i just inherited ( sort of ) a MV 8k. What quantization setting do you use to get that swing? Also are you puming the main outs directly to your studio monitors or do you have it going through a mixer or something 1st?
@ORACLE-boombapmaker3 жыл бұрын
no mixer just with the mv, and the quantiz is in automatique and swing at 45 or 60

Watch waxdat8800 video called «doublelocking to Get that sp 1200 swing» or something. He gives you the sp 1200 swing science, complete with settings and all

@@krakapoww Sweet. Thanks for the reply. I actually have an actual SP1200 from when I was in high school. But the MV 8k is super sweet with the ability to hook a turntable directly into it. Although if you use KZbin you basically have a treasure trove of records at your disposal and I honestly can't tell the difference from sampling from KZbin and an actual record. I come from the time when we recorded to tape on 4track tascam portastudios so def not high fidelity, lol. I used to sample from old VHS tapes cassettes cable TV etc. Tons of hiss and weird artifacts we're part of the charm.👍🏼
