@@minimal3dp I tried editing the benchy typo, but presuming that it's stopping me as it is now a highlighted comment. Maybe copy the contents of my comment to add into the video description - this will automatically add the chapters to the video and help with search engine results too 😀

Great set of videos, thanks. I'm a FlashForge 5M Pro user and am wondering if anyone knows what specific functionality is supported in the latest Orca version? At least initially it seems that Wifi printing & camera access weren't supported (but it seems they may be now). Are there other 5M Pro users out there that might know more details about this? I know there's a specific Orca-FlashForge version but concerned about going down that path since it's unlikely that FlashForge will keep them in-sync as new Orca versions are released. Appreciate any info anyone has to share.

Ii think it's about the same as Cura with all settings showing. It does feel more crowded and busy though.

Mike, I really appreciate your thoughts and tutorials for ORCA. On the surface I can see that there are / might be some really cool things here that CURA does not do. At the moment, I'm struggling to find any ease of use here but I'll say this is because I've only ever used CURA since my first steps into the 3D world 9 months ago. Kind of like, to me, the differences I "find" are similar to what I find between Windows and Mac. IE, the system I was "raised with" typically comes more easily. I say to self "well duh" ! Familiarity rules every time. A quick example (again, most likely because I'm not familiar) but how do I add filaments? I've selected all etc, etc which only brings up a few that Creality makes, none of which I use. No real big deal but it is things like that which make me crazy. Oh, and so far the two items I've printed having sliced them in ORCA have both failed. Print goes for a while, looking good, then all of a sudden the print stops and the hottend moves away as if I asked for this. Same exact part was then sliced in CURA and it printed as expected. Sigh...I will uninstall ORCA and then reinstall is as there must be something amiss in the software from the download, clearly, as everyone raves about it so no question this is on my side of the equation. Nonetheless onward and upward. I will go over your tutorials several times as this old dog needs training to hunt. Again, MANY thanks for taking the time and cross your fingers for me. Sincerely, PDC

What do you do if Orca dose not show your printer? I have the Artillery 4 X Plus
@minimal3dp5 ай бұрын
I would use one of the older sidewinders and customize to match your printer. I did a video on building a profile from scratch.

I wish Orca had a separate tab for bed adhesion options, or put bed adhesion and support together in one tab. Once I have a good profile set up and I am printing multiple objects of a similar type (ie all part of one project for example) the 2 things I might change between prints is support and bed adhesion.
@minimal3dp8 ай бұрын
I usually just have 1 profile and adjust print by print. Separate tabs might make that easier.

When I print, the extruder starts off way too low and digs into the bed. it is a slicer setting because someone else sliced something it is fine. my device tab is blank. do you know how to fix this? thank you!

I think it's your start gcode but to be sure, I would start with a fresh profile.

The boat object. There are many videos about how to use orca software but none explains how to create an object.

Orca is one of the worst designed programs I have ever used. It is stupid, has no flow to the software, you cannot even easily setup the printer. There is no help files. The Device Tab opens to an image that does nothing. And you cannot do anything from the Device Tab. Setting up the printer is impossible. This is a freaking idiotic program. Like a 15 year old designed and implemented it. So far I cannot say anything good about this software. I hate it. Its no possible to master the basics. A program should have a flow to it. It should be Designed so an idiot can operate it without help files. But even, this program has no help files. That is rule number 1 in designing software. Is put very well thought out help files. And the person who did this video assumed that the printer was already set up. And assumed so many things. I have operated software and designed software for 30 years. And I cannot figure out this software. If I cannot do it, then few can.
