Solid pick up for LSU! Coach Bo will know how to utilize Mitchell and he will have a great season. Texas didn't know how to properly utilize him. 6'6" 350 pounds and moves better than anyone his size!

Huge but a huge project. Couldn’t get in the good graces at Texas because he wouldn’t commit to working hard in practice and wouldn’t eat right. The last month however he was doing well on the Scout team but this is not a plug and play DT. Gonna need alot of attention to keep away from the table and to work hard in all workouts.

Dominic Mckinlly is 6’6’’ 315. He is bigger than Maason Smith is. Smith is 6’5’’ 306. I thought Smith was McKinlleys size but he isn’t. They measured him at the combine. Has 35 inch arms though I think Smith was a dam good player who didn’t reach his potential and should have come back for another year. I think Mckknlley is a special player. Already he is. He should have been a day 1 starter. I guess they wanted to preserve his redshirt which they did. We will see him against Baylor. Bowl games don’t count against red shirts anymore. Mckinnley is quick for his size. He has long arms too like Smith does. We are looking stacked at DT right now. Mckinnley, Breaux, Gulllory, and Mitchell. I would imagine Mckinnley and Guilllry will be our starters with the others rotating in frequently. At least that’s what I would do. Unless Gilmour needs more time with his knee and in that case I would start Mitchell. If Paez and Paros Shand come back that’s even better. They are both solid players.

Godcheax is a great player. Bellicheck loved that guy. Rashad Lawrence hasn’t been very good in the NFL though surprisingly. He is currently playing in the UFL. In his 5 years in the NFL he had 30 tackles 1 FF and 0 sacks. I think he was a bit too small and didn’t have the strength to play nose tackle at the NFL level. He should have been converted to 3 tech. He is 6’2’’ 308 and he only did 22 reps on the bench press. Thats not a lot for a nose tackle. Nose tackle should be able to do 27 or 28 reps. In my opinion.

McKinley is a lot more than a guy with just a high ceiling. He played less than 200 snaps and he had 10 tackles and 3 sacks. Against good teams. One was against USC and 2 against that Oklahoma offensive line. Yea Masson Smith had 4 as a freshman but when you see that 3 of them came against Mcneese it’s not as impressive. They need to give this kid Mckinnley whatever he wants to keep him there. We had a good pass rush this year. Not great. A great pass rush produces pressure and gets sacks off the edge AND inside up the middle through the A and B gaps. If you can do both of those at a high level that will cover up some deficiencies in the secondary if you have them. Secondary was much better this year but still not up to the standard. We are bringing in guys who can co web and play man to man. DJ Pickett is one of the tallest longest CBs I’ve ever seen. He looks like Richard Sherman or Thriq Whoolen of the Seahawks. 6’4’’ 190. He has long as arms too. I think Richard Sherman osn6’3’’ bit Woolen is 6’4’’ and runs 4.35. If Picket can run 4.42 that is more Than sufficient to play outside CB. Hell if he can run anywhere in the 4.4’s he can play outside CB. I’m exited about him and another year of Ashton Stamps who I always liked.

Matt, as ever, hyping us up in the off season - these portal players are leaving elsewhere for a reason [usually there are better players keeping them lower than they'd like in their own roster]. We are leaking 50% of our top rated recruits pretty much every year now - hence this failure is why we must be active in the portal.

Wingo was a 3rd team All American in 2022 just for The record. Masson Smith was a freshman All American. And I don’t give a dam what anyone says Dominic McKinnley should have been a freshman All American. I would bet money that McKinley is 1st or 2nd team All American next year.

Neil Farrell is an underated player. Maason Smith has the capability to be GREAT. I wish he would have come back for another year of development though. I hope It doesnt screw his career up. But Smith could have been one of the best at LSU. Wingo is a little bulldog I love him. 6’ 290 a ball of muscle. He can get under The pads of all these tall ass offensive guards and push them around. Never underestimate the small guys. When the Bengals drafted Geno Atkins in Round 4 he slid to round 4! He is 6’1’’ 300 lbs and was a 4x All Pro and a 8x Pro Bowler. He was a fucking menace. A beast. Had 76 sacks for the Bengals.

Guys he played 36 snaps the entire year . Played in 5 games. He has 1 tackle for the entire year and 4 career tackles. This guy couldn’t make the Texas 2 deep in 2 years. He’s useless and I hope this isn’t the only DT in the portal class. There’s nothing premier about him.
